Hymn, "At the Cross"
Lyrics by Issac Watts

Click Here to watch and listen to the Gaither Vocal Band sing this great hymn that will stir your heart and remind you once again of the greatest event that ever occurred in the history of mankind when God's Son, Jesus Christ, died on a wooden cross for your salvation and mine, and the salvation of the entire world. Keep listening and you will hear them sing "Worthy the Lamb that was Slain."

Let me quote from the Book of Revelation that speaks eloquently of the Lamb of God:
Revelation 5:11-13
Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

"Worthy is the Lamb Who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!"

13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

"Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!"
NKJV

And now the lyrics to the Hymn "At the Cross"

1 Alas, and did my Savior bleed?
  And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?

At the cross, at the cross where
  I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

2 Was it for sins that I had done
  He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
  And love beyond degree!

3 Well might the sun in darkness hide,
  And shut His glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker, died
  For man, His creature’s sin.

4 Thus might I hide my blushing face
  While His dear cross appears.
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt mine eyes to tears.

5 But drops of grief can ne’er repay
  The debt of love I owe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away,
’Tis all that I can do.
