June (w/o the Cash) and Elvio Canavesio It was early Friday morning, July 10, 2015, that I received an e-mail from Dr. Harold Dalton, Assistant Director of World Missions Ministries for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, about a video he wanted me to see and hear.
It has to do with a new song Mark Lowry has written entitled,"Old People," who wrote, "Mary, Did you know?" and most of us have heard it and love it. You will remember Mark Lowry from the Bill Gaither Homecoming Gospel Singing.
Well, Mark Lowry's new song is about "Old People." I watched it, had Melvine and Greg to watch it. We were deeply touched by the song and seeing people in the video we know and love. If you wish to see this video you may Click Here to connect to the website.
Since the production of this video was produced by David Canavesio, I contacted Elvio and June Carter (without the Cash) Canavesio, two of our most revered and respected IPHC retired missionaries, to make sure I have the correct information before I send it to you.
Here is what Elvio and June wrote in response:
Hello Hugh,
It's so nice to hear from you.
Happy that you got to see the Mark Lowry music video entitled "Old People." It's a beautiful song. Mark is a supporter of Feed the Children and sponsors a little girl through them.
Our son David has worked at FTC (Feed the Children) for more than 25 years. His work has taken him to more than 50 countries where he has produced promotional materials showing FTC's work in disasters, famines, wars and feeding efforts around the world. It's a great work that he enjoys greatly.
A few months ago David traveled to Nicaragua with Mark to produce a child sponsorship video. Mark got to meet Alba, the little girl he sponsors, and spend time with her and her family. During that time Mark and David became friends so when Mark released his latest album, "How We Love," he asked David to help out with the music video for "Old People," one of the songs on the CD.
David asked us and several other folks to volunteer and be in the video. He shot and edited the video in a couple of days.
It was really just intended to be a video to be played on a big screen during concerts while Mark sang the song, but Mark put it on his Facebook page and the public just loved it. The music video really seems to strike a chord with people. So many people have written about how moving it was and what a blessing this has been to them.
The video was released a couple of months ago, but David dropped by for lunch today and we told him that a friend had seen it on Mark's Facebook page and had shared it. David said we could share the video on our page as well so after lunch he put it on our Facebook page too. Well, we were so surprised! Within an hour the video had been seen by more than 500 friends! It's been about 5 hours now and it looks like we're at about 1,000 views.
Mark has a great talent with his music and his ability to share God's love. We're just happy that we were able to help and we hope that people will enjoy the video and that families will be blessed by it's message.
