The memorial service for Bette Anderson was held Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the River of Life Church in Oklahoma City. Reverends Richard Goad and Dwight Burchett officiated at the beautiful service with each of them sharing memories of their earlier ministry and interaction with Bill and Bette.
The music was beautiful and very fitting for Bette. A quartet from the River of Life sang a couple of songs and Drayton Gibbes, former music director at Muse Memorial during Bill and Bette's term as pastors, led the congregation in "Amazing Grace" and Laban West provided accompaniment on the piano. Laban also served as pianist for Muse Memorial under Bill and Bette's ministry as pastors.
While pastoring at Muse Memorial, Bette raised her five children. Pastor Goad read several tributes from Bette's children and grandchildren. One of Bette's sons, David, and a granddaughter also paid tribute to the life of Bette.
There was a great crowd present for the service. Many former members of Muse Memorial came together to honor this humble and gracious pastor's wife. It was truly a wonderful homecoming for the people of Muse Memorial as we celebrated her life and ministry.
All through the service each person talked about Bette's beautiful quiet spirit, graciousness, and the ever present smile. She was truly a compliment to Bill's ministry as pastor, conference superintendent, and as a missionary in the Philippines. Their servant leadership will long be remembered by all of us.
