Greetings Dr. Morgan,
Just in from the hospital. Janice had emergency surgery this morning (Wednesday) 12-3 a. m. for a perforated small intestine. Because her throat is so swollen she has a respirator helping her breathe for a few days.
She did very well with her radiation treatment and was doing so well even walking unassisted. Then the big pain hit. We thought it was due to her treatments, but finally had to call rescue to have her taken to the hospital. A cat scan revealed the real problem.
Janice is hooked to more machines and tubes than I could have imagined. They are keeping her sedated so she can rest. They were able to stitch the hole and now comes the healing. She will be in SICU (Surgical Intensive Care Unit) at Holy Cross Hospital for several days. This really will delay her other treatments.
Another bump in the road. We press on.
But wait, hold the phone. Our prayers are working. They called in an ENT Specialist. He ran down a light in her throat and said Janice doesn't need the breathing machine (respirator) and had it taken off. She us breathing on her own. PTL! Hallelujah! God specializes in things thought impossible and he is doing for Janice what no other power can do. Janice is sitting up and reading the newspaper. She is just like her father, Robert Robinson, in that she too is a prolific reader. I need to hire her to do research for Hugh's News. She is so gifted and talented.
As Dr. Ron White says daily, we will give up praise to God. He alone is worthy of our praise and He chooses to reside in the praises of His people. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. He knows how to lead us to green pastures and beside still waters. He restores our soul. He is the Good Shepherd. He carries the young lambs in his bosom, near his heart.
[Editor's comment: Could this bump in the road as Wesley wrote about be something that God has allowed. I am praying that God will reveal Himself strong on behalf of our dear sister in Christ and perform a miracle of healing right before the doctors' eyes without any further radiation. Here is what the Holy Scriptures say about it: "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him" (2 Chronicles 16:9, KJV).
There is a renewed emphasis on healing in the church. Jesus gave His disciples authority and power to heal the sick, to open blinded eyes, to heal the lame, and raise the dead. God is raising up laymen in our generation to go out into the streets to heal people. We need to speak healing to those we meet. Wednesday afternoon as I was leaving St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA, following a bilateral carotid scan, I spoke healing to a lady whom I perceived was looking to me for something. I spoke the Name of Jesus and said in my normal voice, "Be healed in the Name of Jesus."
What does the Bible say? Hear the Word of the Lord:
"Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all parts of the country, that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda. There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed. And Peter said to him, "Aeneas, Jesus the Christ heals you. Arise and make your bed." Then he arose immediately. So all who dwelt at Lydda and Sharon saw him and turned to the Lord" (Acts 9:32-35, NKJV). Notice Peter did not pray for him . . . but spoke the word and declared Aenas to be healed. "Jesus the Christ heals you." I want to be like Peter in the healing ministry that has been given to the Church.
God still uses doctors and nurses, and other paramedical personnel, but God is the Healer. His Name is Jesus Who received stripes in his body for our healing. In the Name of Jesus I claim and declare healing for Janice Robinson Russ.]
