Time. That precious commodity that seems to slip by and interferes with that “Peace of Mind" for we so desperately search.
Reminiscent of the past, when everything seemed to be simple, compared to the hustle and bustle of today’s lifestyle, where our own “Time” seems to be pulled in many directions.
Today we seem to become “Time Managers,” where everything we do is questioned and filled with the anxiety of deadlines we are called to complete. What happened to the “Simpler of Times.”
For a moment, let’s close our eyes and just . . .
IMAGINE
It’s a beautiful Saturday morning filled with the warmth of sunshine as you walk down the stairs you open the windows to a hint of a breeze that ruffle the curtains and you proceed to the front of the porch for the morning newspaper. The coffee is brewing and you are ready to settle down for some peaceful time to yourself.
The past few months have been filled with anxiety, due to deadlines that had to be met at work. Overtime was abundant and took time away from you and the family and you had less time for yourself.
We used to go on picnics, rides in the country, vacations that may have lasted only a few days, but gave memories of a lifetime you would never forget. They were the simpler of times.
You settle into your comfortable chair with your coffee and newspaper. Finally, some “Time’ for me.
An article catches your interest, and as you settle in something catches you out of the corner of your of your eye. It seemed like a “Flash” more than anything. As the leaves continue to rustle in the breeze you go back to your article, thinking nothing of it.
Then, there is a knock on your door. Agitation fills your mind as your “Time” is being disrupted. While walking to the door you now become angry and very unhappy.
You open the door, and standing there is “Jesus,” smiling at you and calling you by name. He says, “I was in your neighborhood and thought I’d stop in and chat.”
And you bring “Jesus” into your sitting area to have a seat. He once again calls you by name and says, “So what’s going on in your life?”
You begin to tell Him about work, family, and the myriad of issues that you seem to encounter on a daily basis. It seems as though there is never enough “Time” to address all of these concerns. Your life is stressful.
You go on for what seems like hours, pouring everything out to Him. In His “Time” it was only a few seconds, but when you finish there is a sense of great relief.
Jesus stands up as you walk Him to the door. He turns, smiles, and once again calls you by name and says, “Trust in Me.” If you are ever in my neighborhood would You stop in so we could chat again?” “And I’ve really enjoyed Your talk.”
Each of us in our lives face issues every day. How big are these issues if we “Trust in Him” and,
