Honoring Father's Day, June 20, 2021
The Apostle Paul tells us this about fathers and mothers in Ephesians 6:2, "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise."
However, it was Moses, the giver of the Law which God gave to him for the children of Israel about honoring parents:
Exodus 20:12 The Fifth Commandment
12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
NIV
Why We Celebrate Father's Day
Father’s Day celebrates and honors the men who have embraced the essential role of fatherhood. On this day, we also thank fathers and father figures for the sacrifices they make, for embracing the responsibility of nurturing and raising children, and for devotion to their family.
What Day is Father's Day in 2021
In 2021, Father’s Day will be celebrated on Sunday, June 20. This happens to be the same day as the summer solstice (June 20 at 11:32 P.M. Eastern Time), which makes it the perfect time to kick-off the summer season with a father-focused barbecue, camping trip, beach day, or other outdoor activity!
Father’s Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday in June in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, India, and a number of other countries around the world.
The Summer Solstice
In 2021, the June solstice happens on Sunday, June 20, at 11:32 P.M. EDT. This date marks the official beginning of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, occurring when Earth arrives at the point in its orbit where the North Pole is at its maximum tilt (about 23.5 degrees) toward the Sun, resulting in the longest day and shortest night of the calendar year. (By longest “day,” we mean the longest period of sunlight hours.) On the day of the June solstice, the Northern Hemisphere receives sunlight at the most direct angle of the year.
