Falcon Community Prayer Walk

Good morning Mr. Morgan:
I just wanted to give you an update on our Saturday morning, Sept. 26, 2020 - 9:00 AM Community Prayer Walk here in Falcon. We had a really good group and approximately 100 people came to help us pray. We had approximately 5 churches in the area represented. The Lord showed us His favor by giving us good weather.
We gathered at the flag pole of the J. O. Humphries Memorial Park in Falcon at 9:00 AM on Sat., Sept. 26, 2020, where Mayor Cliff Turpin welcomed everyone and said our little town and community "is the best kept secret in Cumberland County". Following his welcome, Rev. John McCray, interim pastor of Antioch Baptist Church, opened with prayer followed by Rev. Steve Dixon leading the pledge to the American Flag and singing the National Anthem. Rev. Dixon is a teacher at the Falcon Christian Academy and pastor of the Midway Pentecostal Holiness Church near Coats, NC.
Mrs. Peggy Kirk, our prayer director, gave us our "prayer route" for the day beginning at Antioch Baptist Church where Mr. Kris Kirk led in prayer; the next stop was Falcon Town Hall where Mr. John Gipson, a town commissioner, welcomed everyone to the newly renovated Falcon Town Hall and led in prayer for our local, state, and federal government. Our next stop was Culbreth Memorial Church where Mr. Gerald Lucas led in prayer followed by Mr. Patrick Womack who prayed for the HOPE CENTER, a new rehabilitation home for young people who have serious addictions.
We then walked to the Octagon Tabernacle where Rev. Casey Strickland, pastor of Culbreth Memorial Church, led in prayer, gave a brief history and remembered those powerful praying pioneers who have gone on before us. Mrs. Bonnie Byrd led the group in singing REVIVE US AGAIN!!!!
Supt. Joey Leggett of Falcon Children's Home led in prayer at Golden Years Nursing Home where he prayed for the healing of the Corona virus and protection of the residents and families. We then walked over to Falcon Christian Academy where Rev. Steve Dixon spoke briefly and led in prayer for the school, colleges, students and teachers. Mark Lucas, former houseparent of FCH, led in prayer for the Children's Home campus and the children and current houseparents and workers.
We then walked to Godwin-Falcon Fire Department where Mr. Joe Byrd led in prayer for our first responders, our EMT's, paramedics and medical personnel, local and state police officers, the FBI, our military branches, the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, and our small community businesses.
The "prayer walk" resumed and ended at the Falcon Park flag pole with everyone gathering to have a final prayer led by Bishop Danny Nelson of the North Carolina Conference. Mrs. Bonnie Byrd gave special recognition to Fire Chief Keith Matthews and Cumberland County Sheriff's Dept. deputy for following us on and controlling traffic during our walk. She thanked Mrs. Janet Lucas for her vision of having the Falcon/community prayer walk based on our Washington, D.C. trips with the Royal Home of Falcon for the past three years for the March for Life rally.
We appreciate all those who came out and participated and helped us pray on this same day that Mr. Franklin Graham was having a prayer walk in our Nation's Capitol. A special thanks to Falcon Children's Home and Supt. Joey Leggett for the use of their little train. Also, thanks to those who brought golf carts. Both were very helpful to those who could not walk a long distance. We especially thank the TOWN OF FALCON commissioners for assisting us with this endeavor and hope to make this an annual event.
"If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." We truly believe we will reap results from our prayers.
Thank you Mr. Morgan, for helping us get the word out about our community prayer walk. We appreciate all you do to include Falcon events and activities in your news publication.
