From President Thompson
Classes have begun! The closing semester of the 121st term has begun. God is at work!
Our enrollment is up from the fall. We have four new full time Freshmen. Our night classes for BEAM (Biblical Education for Adults in Ministry) will increase as well.
In fact, in March we will begin a new BEAM location with Pastor Hasker Hudgens at the Equipping Center, Greenville, South Carolina (east). Needless to say I am thrilled at these increases. I hope and pray we will have other increases in full time students and other new BEAM locations.
There is a spirit of revival on the college campus and in the church. I am thankful. We do our best in a spirit of revival. Surely, He is “Better to Us Than at Our Beginning.” This is our “Word” for the 121st term from Ezekiel 36:11.
Spanish Speaking Church in Holmes Memorial Church facilities
The church has started a Spanish speaking church in the church facilities. The pastors are David and Sol Miles. Sol is a graduate of the Bible College and David has attended. Sol is originally from Nicaragua. Last Sunday the church, Harvest of the Nations, (Cosecha de las Naciones) had 38 in attendance. Some 30 plus were new people. The Lord is at work. Praise Him!
Place Founder's Week on your calendar
It is not too early for the alumni to enter Founder’s Week on their calendars. The schedule is as follows:
March 6 P.M.
March 7 and 8 A.M. and P.M.
March 8 A.M.
P.M. Alumni Banquet
Dr. Dwight Dunning, Clinton, N.C. and Pastor Paul Evans, Wilmington, N.C. are the guest presenters. Pastor Evans will be introducing his new book, Help For Holiness. Both these men of God are Holmes graduates.
The 2019 Commencement and Graduation Date
Graduation will be May 4 this year. Dr. Dan Woods will be the speaker.
Keep all these dates in mind. Come and visit us! How long has it been since you have been on campus? Have you visited the new campus? It is beautiful! Yes, the staff and students keep it up.
Holmes Bible College continues to be a "Faith School."
Holmes is still a "faith school.” Last year (2017-18) the students paid only 17% of the total cost of their education. The college paid 83%. These funds come from friends and donors of the college. It is so important and helpful for every alumnus to be involved in prayer/financial support. Betty and I have faithfully supported the college since leaving in May, 1974. We see how valuable that support has been. (We still write a check every month.)
May the Lord bless each of our alumni. You are our Handfuls on Purpose (and more).
