Many of my older readers and subscribers will remember John Moody Presley, the bother of Jackson and Charles Presley. You can join with other friends of Moody Presley to help make his 90th birthday a memorable occasion.
It has been my privilege to know the Presley family all of my life. My parents, Hugh Henry Morgan and Julia Payne Morgan, were good friends of Moody's parents, I. H, and Willette Presley. I remember Moody as a fantastic trumpet player and a firey preacher. When I was in Junior High Youth Camp Moody was our camp preacher at River Springs, Alabama. He played softball with us, and made us all feel important.
When I was a young Marine at Quantico, VA, Moody preached a revival at the National Pentecostal Holiness Church when Walter J. Nash was the pastor. I enjoyed hearing Moody preach, and loved the atmosphere of the nightly revival service so much that I hitch-hiked from Quantico to Washington DC to attend the services. I learned that he had graduated from Asbury College and that helped to persuade me to enroll at Asbury when I finished my three-year enlistment in the Marine Corps in August 1963.
After I graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in 1963, Melvine and I took our first pastorate at the Brownville Pentecostal Holiness Church near Evergreen, Alabama, Moody's father and step mother, I . H. and Edna Presley, were members of our church. Moody would often drive up from Florida to visit them where I. H. had a home and farm near McKenzie, Alabama. He would drive over to visit with me at the church.
I have maintained communications with Moody over the years. He was an administrator of VA Hospitals and I remember once he was the administrator of the VA Hospital in Salem, VA
Jane, Moody's wife informs me that he has several health problems and is being cared for at home by her and their son, Dan, with Hospice. His mind and spirits are good and he is keeping the Faith. Jane said, "I know it would mean a lot to him to hear from friends at this time either by mail":

I can tell you Moody loves the Pentecostal Holiness Church and has a fantastic memory of people and events in our great history as a denomination. Some of you will remember that Moody Presley wrote the theme song for Lifeliners, "We are the Lifeliners."
