Here are the Lyrics:
Lifeliners, Lifeliners, We are sailing on life's stormy sea.
We are the Lifeliners, Ready to help the lost;
Ready to go and bring them in, bring them out of sinking sin.
Get them the Word of God, Whate'er may be the cost,
Tell that our Christ will save their soul!
Sail on, heaven's our goal.
(Lively march tempo)
I know the man who wrote it. Today, there will be a memorial service for him. Please read on. He was my friend, and I believe he was a friend of God. I know he loved Jesus and confessed Him as his Savior and Lord.

The Rev. Dr. Michael Stewart, former President of Emmanuel College, will conduct the memorial service. Mike is the brother of Jane Presley, wife of John Moody Presley.
[Editor's comment: I have known John Moody Presley all of my life. His parents, I. H. and Willette Presley, were close friends of my parents. I was blessed by the Presley Brothers, Jackson, Moody, and Charles. When Jackson was attending Howard College, now Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and pastoring the East Lake Pentecostal Holiness Church, the Presley brothers conducted a revival and our family attended it. They invited me to play my trombone with them during the revival. They were terrific musicians and as I recall I was 13 years old. It was a thrill to hang out with those older guys.
Jackson took me to youth camp one year when Moody was the youth camp speaker at River Springs, Alabama, south of McKenzie, Alabama. He was a gifted preacher, and was very athletic and played softball with us.
Years later, Moody preached a revival at the National P H. Church in Washington, DC, when I was a young Marine at Quantico, VA and played trombone and sousaphone in the Quantico Marine Band. I hitchhiked every night and on Saturday to the revival services to hear Moody preach. I learned that he had graduated from Asbury College, now Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, and I applied to be a student there in 1956 the year I completed my 3 year enlistment in the Marines. That was a great year for me spiritually and educationally. The next fall of 1957, I transferred to Holmes Bible College. I completed three years of Bible study under Dr. Paul F. Beacham, and Mr. Jesse Daniels. I did not graduate from Holmes Bible College, but transferred to Furman University where I graduated in May of 1960 with a B. A. degree in Psychology, with a minor in English literature and Public Speaking/Communications.
After I graduated from Furman University in 1960 and married Melvine Stewart of Draper, NC, we moved to Wilmore, KY where I was a student at Asbury Theological Seminary.
When I graduated in May of 1963, I wrote Leon O. Stewart, superintendent of the Alabama Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church and told him I would like to pastor a church. There was only one church open that year. It was the Brownville P. H. Church about 6 miles out in the country from Evergreen, Alabama in Conecuh County, the poorest county in Alabama. My salary was $35 a week with an unfurnished parsonage. Melvine taught high school English and history to help us make it financially. It was there I became the pastor to I. H. and Edna Presley. During those two years, Moody would drop by the church when visiting his father and step mother, and we would talk about church ministry. I was so excited to be a pastor and to see if what I had learned in Bible school and seminary worked. I can tell you it did, in fact, God did far more than I could have ever imagined or hoped for. I loved being a pastor of a small country church. I met the finest people in the world at Brownville. It was from there that God called me into the Air Force Chaplaincy.
I have kept up with Moody and Jane over the years when he was an administrator for VA Medical Centers. In recent years we have corresponded and talked by phone. He and Jane contribute to Hugh's News monthly.
I praise God for allowing me to know Moody Presley. He lived a full life and died at 92. Christmas is for kids from 1 to 92. Now, Moody will have Christmas in heaven this year. I look forward to seeing Moody Presley again in heaven one day. May God bless the memory of Jackson, Moody, and Charles Presley. These brothers gave their hearts to Jesus and so did I.]
