Honoring the Life and Legacy of Claudine Barbee Yeatts
January 14, 1930 - January 13, 2022
Claudine Barbee Yeatts passed onto her eternal reward on January 13, 2022 after a sudden illness. She was born in Concord, North Carolina on January 14, 1930. She was the beloved wife of S. Dail Yeatts as they spent 74 glorious years together full of cherished memories of family, friends, and travel. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus and her family and friends. They enjoyed an amazing quality of life by the grace of God. She was a retired elementary school teacher, mostly in the South Boston, Virginia school system after 30 years. She and Dail relocated to the Richmond area about 33 years ago to be near to their family. Wherever they have lived, they made lifelong friends.
They have two sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Stanley D. Yeatts II and Kimberly D. Yeatts of Yorktown, Virginia, and Dr. Donald E. Yeatts and Teri S. Yeatts of Chesterfield, Virginia. Claudine and Dail had four grandchildren. Matthew William Yeatts predeceased his grandmother in 2016. Sean P. Yeatts of Chesterfield, Virginia and Brad and Emily Beeson of Chesterfield, Virginia live locally and have been a great blessing to their grandparents. Sgt. Matthew G. Yeatts is serving in the United States Army and protected our country for years with numerous deployments. Claudine and Dail were proud of their three great grandchildren Brenna and Micah Beeson and Lily Yeatts.
Claudine is survived by three siblings, Mrs. Betty Noseworthy of Lakeland, Florida, Mrs. Janelle McGraw and her husband Rev. Joel McGraw of Huntsville, Alabama, and Mr. Wayne Barbee of Louisa, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her parents Claude and Pauline Barbee of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and her in-laws the Reverend Dr. G. Dewey and Artie Yeatts of Dry Fork, Virginia.
A family visitation will be on Monday, January 17, from 6-8 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield, Virginia. The memorial service to celebrate her full and victorious life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 18 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia Chapel, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Court House, Virginia. [Editor's comments: Claudine Barbee Yeatts was an elegant Christian lady, a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a committed Christian. She was one of three outstanding Barbee sisters from Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her sisters are Betty Barbee Noseworthy, a widow of John Noseworthy of Canada, and Janelle Barbee McGraw, the wife of Joel S. McGraw who resides in Harvest, Alabama. She took piano lessons and would play for the church services when Dail Yeatts was a pastor.
Claudine was a born teacher and developed her teaching gift through her training in college and teaching children in the classroom. She and Dail had a beautiful home which she decorated with loving care. She and Dail had the gift of hospitality and enjoyed having family and friends come to their home for various gatherings and to dine at her table of plenty.
God blessed her with two outstanding sons who became medical doctors, one a general family doctor, and the other an OB/GYN specialist. They are both Christians and love the Lord Jesus Christ. They are generous givers to the church and their community.
I have many fond memories of Dail and Claudine Barbee Yeatts. They were always kind and gracious to Melvine and me.
They took us to some of the finest restaurants in Richmond. We enjoyed shopping with them.
I send my deepest compassion, love, and condolences to Dail, Stanley and Don and their respective families. It is my sincere prayer that the comfort of the Holy Spirit will bring them peace in their grief and sorrow. May the memory of Claudine Barbee Yeatts linger in our hearts in the years to come.]
