Freeman and Colleen Mashburn were dear friends of mine. He was my predecessor as director/endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. Dr. Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. called and asked me to fill his vacancy. After prayer and fasting, and in consultation with Melvine, I accepted the challenge. So, for the next 16 years I fulfilled my obligation to serve our chaplains, to recruit and endorse new ones, and to attend the various conferences of the IPHC to represent Chaplains Ministries.
Whenever I visited in Oklahoma City for board meetings or conferences, I would call the Mashburns and take them out to a nice restaurant. I visited in their new home they had built. Freeman often told me that he wanted to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. He asked me how to get a grave plot. I checked with our chaplains who had served there like: Navy Chaplain Russell Gunter, Air Force Chaplain Bob Lynch, and Army Chaplain Ken Godfrey.

Not only is Freeman buried there, but a short while after his death, Colleen died and was buried there on top of his casket and vault. I was unable to attend due to a recent surgery and my inability to attend. However, I am happy to announce that my successor, Chaplain Jerry Jones, Chaplain Doug Beacham, Chaplain Lou Shirey, Chaplain Ken Godfrey.
Our IPHC military chaplains have served well. We are proud of all of them, their spouses and families.
On this Memorial Day we honor those who gave the supreme sacrifice, laying down their lives for the cause of Freedom.
