Hugh H.
Donna and I will celebrate our 66th wedding anniversary Wednesday, September 5.
We have no regrets in the path God has led us since our marriage.
We are still happy.
As an old friend would say, “I am mailing you a little piece of money to help you in Paying the August bills.
Have fun,
Leon Stewart
[Editor's comment: Leon O. Stewart assigned me to my first church that I have pastored. I had graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in May of 1963 with the M. Div. degree. I was privileged to be the pastor of some of the finest people in the known world at the Brownville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The Brownville Community and our church were located about six miles from Evergreen, AL, in Conecuh County, the poorest county in the State of Alabama. Leon told me that they had 66 members and that the church had great potential. My salary without any gas allowance was $35 a week, with an unfurnished parsonage, with electric power, and a propane furnace. Melvine was able to get a job teaching in the Evergreen High School to help with what we really needed in income. The church grew and was blessed by God.
I tell people I am in the ministry for the money. I told God I would go wherever He would send me, and I would give my full time to the church. There are many stories I could tell you, but I want to focus on the 66th Wedding Anniversary of Bishop Leon and Miss Donna Stewart. Let us join together by sending anniversary cards to this outstanding couple and leaders of our church.

Donna sent me a photo of their wedding reception as they were cutting the wedding cake. I will have to get Arlette Revells to scan it for me. My Canon all in one copier, fax, printer and scanner is not what I need to scan photos. However, Arlette has the state of the arts in all her equipment in her business, Great Works, Inc. It wonderful to have friends like Arlette and her husband Lavon who help me often.]
