We are grateful for the first hand knowledge about the last events in honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. H. Vinson Synan.
Let me quote from our presiding bishop Doug Beacham:
The service for Dr. Synan was very nice. The burial was Saturday morning and attended primarily by family. Rev. Bert Synan began the grave service with Scripture and personal comments. I then spoke and gave the committal. The service closed with Bert leading the family in singing "It is Well with My Soul." He was buried on the opposite side of the tombstone that marks his father and mother. Next to that grave is that of L.C. Synan, former Eastern Virginia Conference superintendent.
Afterward we all went to Virginia Beach for the memorial service. It was held at Rock Church, begun by John and Anne Gimenez. IPHC speakers included Rev. Bert Synan, Bishop Dayton Birt, Rev. Craig Walker, and me. Other speakers were Anne Gimenez, a video from Dr. Pat Robertson, personal messages from Regent University faculty, and from Greek Orthodox priest Father Timothy Cremeens. Dr. Synan's daughter Mary eloquently spoke about her father. Also present in the service from IPHC were Bishop Garry Bryant, Mr. Jim Synan, and Dr. Michael
Hartsfield. It was a very nice service honoring Dr. Synan's life. The oldest child of the J.A Synan family, Maurine, was present at the grave service and the memorial service.
[Editor's Comment: How blessed the IPHC was to have a son in the faith like H. Vinson Synan. To have known him was to love him. He was a man for all seasons, and he flowed with the Holy Spirit. God had him moving in circles in the church world that few men or women ever go. I pray that his books will bless countless thousands of people who may not have known him. To be honored by Oral Roberts University and Regent University was outstanding. He could have enjoyed the blessings of Emmanuel College and Southwestern Christian University as well. We mourn the death of this servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.]
