Susan and I were blessed on Sunday, August 2, to attend the 100th anniversary celebration of the South Greenwood PHC in Greenwood, SC. Pastor Dr. Terry Bailey and his staff prepared an excellent program and the church was nearly full.
My wife and her three living sisters along with their husbands were present for this special service. All five of the Reed girls grew up in that church. Lou and Becky Reed Shirey were present and briefly spoke. Susan and I also spoke in the service. [I learned that Bishop Doug Beacham preached.]
Bishop Beacham sent me a couple of photos that I have had my webmaster to size for this special story about the South Greenwood PHC and their 100th anniversary. What a great story. Dr. Terry Bailey knows how to do things in a big way. There is nothing mediocre about him. He always endeavors to give the best to his congregation. His work and ministry is copacetic--excellent, superb, and above all expectations.
It is so important to honor all previous pastors, as well as honor laymen who have served the church faithfully too. I knew Mr. and Mrs. Guy Reed, the parents of Susan Beacham and Becky Shirey. What a marvelous couple they were. I knew them from attending various meetings, conferences, and campmeetings in the Upper South Carolina Conference, as well as visiting and speaking at the South Greenwood PHC.
Also present and brought a greeting and opening prayer was former Upper South Carolina Conference Superintendent Ronald Q. Moore.
