BETHANY, Oklahoma – Southwestern Christian University picked its first win of 2016 with an 81-77 decision over Bethany (Kan.) Saturday at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
The Eagles, now 3-7 on the season, saw a 20-point lead evaporate in the first half, but SCU got a pair of clutch 3-pointers from Trevar Mayon late in regulation and held on for the win.
Willie Harper and Marvin White scored 18 points apiece to lead the SCU effort. Gabi Laurent added 17 points and six rebounds. Shawn Scott finished with nine points, and Mayon had seven.
The Eagles will return to Sooner Athletic Conference action against 15th-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.
