The woman put aside her business judgment and advised, "She may be your nineteen-year-old girlfriend now, but someday she could be your fifty-year-old wife."
The young man bought a dozen roses.
The young man ahead of my father at the flower shop was taking an unusually long time to place his order. When the clerk asked how she could help, he explained that his girlfriend was turning nineteen and he couldn't decide whether to give her a dozen roses or nineteen roses -- one for each year of her life.

Mission M25 has been a part of Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge every year since the first year I rode, 2014. Pastor Wes Alvarez, Pastor Steve Dow and myself have ridden this torturous ride to commemorate the plight of the Native Americans in the United States of America.
Below is the recap of Pastor Steve Dow, Christian Heritage Church, Tallahassee, FL. Through extreme measures of serving and remembering, we hope to bring Jesus to the most abused people in the USA. Pastor Dow was required to raise funds for some non-profit cause. We are so thankful he chose our War Horse Outreach for this cause. We used the money to help fund the various outreaches we spoke of in our War Horse 2018 report. Hoka Hey, 2018 For me, riding the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge, was a measure of my obedience to God. When the Holy Spirit spoke to me about the Hoka Hey, I didn’t have a motorcycle license or a motorcycle. My wife and I begin believing God for provision. In just a year God provided a bike. As I begin riding and preparing for the 2018 Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge I had no idea what was in store. I talked with Gary Burd and others who had done the ride. However, nothing they shared began to prepare me for the mental battles I would face. 20 hours per day on a motorcycle for 14 days. Riding through all types of weather and terrain. Getting so sick an emergency room visit was required. Then getting back on the bike and continuing the ride. Being so tired all I wanted to do was quit. Riding through the desert with it so hot I thought I would suffocate. Sleeping on the ground in places most deemed unsafe. Hitting a skunk at 11pm and riding all night because of the smell. Eating gas station food. It was the worst, best experience of my life. The worst, I just described. The best, my daughter and four grandkids meeting me in San Marcos, Texas with cold water, Dr. Pepper, Snickers and lots of hugs. Encountering a 14 year old boy whose dad had just died and leading him to the Lord. Talking with an 80 year old Blackfoot women who wanted to see revival in her tribe. Praying with David, a Jew, who desperately needed to see the love of Jesus for himself and his nation. Helping Julie, an abused mom with two small children, out of money and hope. Giving her money, food, gas and most of all, the Bread of Life, as she accepted Jesus as Savior. God reminding me of my heritage and breaking my heart for Native Americans. The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge will always be a part of who I am and the man of God I am becoming. Every day I pray for Native Americans. Every day I ask the Lord to use me to reach Native Americans for His Kingdom. The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge was a defining experience for me. Holy Spirit forced me to move beyond my boundaries and limitations to experience the love Jesus has for the forgotten and overlooked. I have led 57 missions trips around the world, preached crusades, built churches, Bible schools, orphanages, yet the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge did more for me than all those combined. It forced me to not just empathize with the hurting but become the hurting. Not just empathize with the lonely but become the lonely. Not just empathize with the broken and outcast but become broken and outcast. It was an altering experience. Altering my vision, purpose, direction for the remainder of my life. Email: hugh@hughsnews.com Website: www.hughsnews.com www.combatfaith.com; www.combatfaith.blogspot.com Hopefully this that follows will be viewed as more than just "what I did on my summer vacation." Before any trip that Linda and I commence we pray for "Divine Encounters." These do not necessarily relate only to spiritual situations, but also to personal situations in meeting individuals or unique circumstances. Our recent cruise to England and several days there was no exception to the answers by our Lord to our prayer. We signed up for this cruise because there would be World War II veterans on the cruise making presentations on their experiences in WWII. They were sponsored by the The Greatest Generations Foundation. All were 94-98 years young. Last spring for my West Point reunion we utilized a private car service for the journey from the airport to our Manhattan hotel. Our driver had been a Vietnam veteran also, a soldier with the South Vietnamese Army, who had escaped after the war and eventually came to the U.S., where he married a Christian and is father to two college grad children. He is a Buddhist. We related very well. On this trip, of 100 or so drivers for the car company, he was again assigned to drive us. When he arrived to pick us up, there were warm embraces of him by Linda and me as we reconnected. Before we even departed New York harbor from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, we were on deck looking across the harbor to Governor's Island and the Statue of Liberty and observed an older couple being videotaped. I heard "seventieth wedding anniversary" and Linda and I commenced to introduce ourselves and we struck up a conversation. Our new fellow shipmate was a D-Day and Battle of the Bulge veteran with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law accompanying him. We visited several times during our Atlantic crossing and will remain in contact. It is not a surprise that I connected closely with an affinity and respect for him that was mutual. On our Queen Mary cruise last year I had attended the Sunday worship service and met a Nicci Pugh from England, who asked me if I were an amputee, after she observed my challenge in rising up from an armless chair. We discovered she had been a British Naval Nursing Sister on the hospital ship Uganda in 1982 during the Falklands War. She cared for the amputees on the ship during the hostilities. We also discovered she has the same surname as Linda's maiden name. She came to visit us on our trip to England after this cruise and gifted me a copy of the book she wrote, White Ship-Red Crosses, an engrossing book about personal stories of the wounded in action from the Falklands War. If anyone is interested in obtaining the book, email me and I will put you in touch with her. (Allen's email: allenbclark@aol.com We visited Exeter Cathedral and were there only one day and were able to enjoy a stirring event wherein the Royal Coldstream Guards band presented a concert the sole evening we were there. Would that any of us be memorialized in such a remarkable way as was this man at Exeter Cathedral. A few days before the commencement of our cruise I was with my daughter in Austin and we met an Englishman at an Austin hotel. I told him I was traveling to the Exeter area in Cornwall after our upcoming cruise. He stayed in touch with my daughter and obtained my telephone number. He has been involved in the entertainment industry and has managed rock bands. We were in Dartmouth, England and returning to a certain town after a train ride. Before our departure, I received a call from him asking me about my trip and inquiring as to whether we had already come and gone. I told him in fact we were still in England and would be arriving in 30 minutes at a certain station. He said he lived in that town. As it turned out he was shopping 200 yards from our destination train station and greeted us when we arrived. He is working on a show in the U.S. for a band and asked us to attend, if it is scheduled. For two days we stayed in Chepstow, a town on the eastern edge of Wales, in a hotel that for several hundred years was a private mansion and estate. Get this! There was an active parish church next to the entrance, steps from checkin, so it was the first place ever on a vacation that we were able to begin and end our touring days with prayer in a church that was hundreds of years old! On of the major destinations planned for this tour was Moriah Chapel in Loughor, Swansea, Wales. This was the site in 1904-1905 of the Wales Revival. It was initiated by Evan Roberts, a man of very modest means, who worked in the coal mines. It was at this home church of his that the Wales Revival began and thousands and thousands of people through services at Moriah and other churches in Wales came to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. Weeks before our trip I contacted the church secretary and indicated we wished to worship at Moriah on Sunday August 5 and be their guest. My schedule changed and it looked as if we could not attend that day. The secretary messaged me a few days before the 5th to check on our visit. I told her there was a complication for my itinerary, but that I would contact her Aug. 3 to confirm our plans. I had by that time contracted a cold and told her we would not visit. We woke up in Cardiff on Sat. Aug 4 and Linda said, "Let us go to Moriah." I emailed my contact and had not heard back by the time we went there by train and were at the church with the taxi idling to take us back from the locked-up church. We were about to go back to the train in the taxi when a message was texted and she said she could come and open the church in an hour. We sent the driver away and awaited her arrival. A young man also showed up unannounced to the secretary, when she arrived to open the church for us. As it developed he was a recent convert to Christianity from an Indian faith group and literally drove to Moriah from northern England to visit the church, but had no appt. as did we. (We have stayed in contact). He joined us and in the church we prayed for another revival and a return to the faith, which is lacking in their community as exemplified by very low church attendance. The secretary told us two special anecdotes: 1. That thousands of the converts in the Revival were Killed in Action during World War One and obviously were able to know of eternal life upon their demise and 2. The Revival changed the communities and whereas previously, the miners would get off work, and before going home, would congregate in the pubs and spend the money needed at home for food and clothes. With the changes manifested in the new converts, the pubs closed and the police had nothing to do in those communities! This is the memorial to Evan Roberts outside Moriah Chapel. A dear Dallas friend of ours, when we described our encounters recently, told us she had also prayed for us for 'Divine Encounters." Prayers were answered in incredible fashion! [Editor's Comment: Allen B. Clark is a West Point Graduate. He volunteered to serve in Vietnam. While serving as an intelligence officer with Special Forces of the United States Army he and his company were hit by mortar rounds. He gave both his legs in battle that day. He is one of our most distinguished heroes whom we can never repay.
Allen served as Assistant Secretary of Veterans Affairs. He never allowed his physical disabilities to detract from his passion to care for others and serve this great nation. It was my privilege and honor to meet Allen and his lovely wife, Linda, in San Antonio, Texas, for a combined Military Chaplains Association and National Veterans Administration Chaplains Convention. We bonded in friendship and love, and that friendship has grown since we met in April 2007. They have asked me to serve as their personal pastor. What an honor to serve Spirit-filled Anglicans and Spirit-empowered disciples of Christ. Allen's article on "Divine Encounters" is well-written and documented by Allen and Linda Clark's experiences. Life is rich and full when these kinds of divine encounters happen to us.] I am pleased to announce that Navy Reserve Chaplain Adam Erwin will have a second promotion ceremony at his home church in Elberton, Georgia, Celebration Outreach Center (formerly called The Lighthouse) at the 10:30 morning worship service this coming Sunday, September 2, 2018. It has been scheduled so that his family and friends can share in his promotion to Lieutenant Commander.
The Rev. Mr. Bill Jones, is the pastor of Celebration Outreach Center. He was our former conference superintendent of LifePoint Ministries, Georgia Conference. We are so proud of Adam and his wife, Kuhiwa, and their two boys, Alrich and Patrick. Melvine and I plan to motor over to Elberton to witness this important event in the career of Adam Erwin. Adam has given me permission to invite you to come as well. The rank of Lieutenant Commander (04) is equivelent to the rank of major in the Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps. The Bible says that certain things will never change. The laws of nature will not change. The fixed facts of the universe will not change. Also, spiritual laws will never change. For example, the nature of God has not changed. In all these centuries He is still the same: “I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6). In James we read that “there is no variation or shadow of turning” with God (James 1:17). God is unchanging in holiness. He is a holy God, a righteous God. He is unchanging in judgment. The Bible says, “The Lord will judge the ends of the earth” (1 Samuel 2:10). And He is unchanging in love. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). The Word of God, the Bible, has not changed. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever,” wrote the Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 40:8). In the Psalms we read, “Forever, O Lord, Your Word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). And, finally, the way of salvation has not changed. Scripture says, “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). The way of salvation is still through Jesus at the cross and the resurrection. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). The farmer's son was returning from the market with the crate of chickens his father had entrusted to him, when all of a sudden the box fell and broke open. Chickens scurried off in different directions, but the determined boy walked all over the neighborhood scooping up the wayward birds and returning them to the repaired crate. Hoping he had found them all, the boy reluctantly returned home, expecting the worst.
"Pa, the chickens got loose," the boy confessed sadly, "but I managed to find all twelve of them." "Well, you did real good, son," the farmer beamed. "You left with seven." Hugh’s News School of Biblical Theology is in session today, Wednesday, August 29, 2018 Theology: The study of the nature of God. Systematic Theology: The organizing of the teaching of the Bible into categorical systems. We must: In order to see the Word of God clearly, believe the Bible according to its obvious meaning. Matthew 22:29 “Jesus answered and said to them. You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.” Pre-Existence: The existence in a former state or previous to something else. We who love the Word of God understand that all of the Bible is important and only the Word of God can truly interpret the Bible. Thus, no matter what division we are considering none is more important than the other. Theology, Christology, Soteriology or Eschatology are valuable and worthy studies. I would like to focus on what I believe to be the most important study in the light of God’s plan of Redemption. Let us look at the pre-existence (pre-incarnation) of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The Apostle John addresses this question in the first verse of his Gospel, talking about the birth of Jesus of Nazareth: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then in verse 14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father full of grace and truth.” In John 1:1, “In the beginning….” We see that John begins his Gospel just as Moses begins the book of beginnings, Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God….” The apostle Paul sent his final letter to Timothy, his beloved spiritual son in the faith, he first addressed the pre-existence of Jesus. Paul is, in my view, the Theologian of the new covenant. Waiting in a Roman prison to be executed for his Christian faith and ministry, Paul picks up the pin and begins to write to his son Timothy. The apostle has covered most of the known world preaching Christ and Him crucified in synagogues, theaters, prisons, homes, before kings and in market places. Paul has paid a great price for his ministry, his devotion to his Lord Jesus, and his unwavering faith. Scared in body, suffering from a thorn in his flesh and struggling to see because of failing eyesight, Paul writes in large letters to his beloved son Timothy. These words to Timothy could be his last will and testament. All Paul has to leave his followers, students, and the Church is his mind, his teaching, his letters, his love for evangelism, and his faith in God’s Word. From the Mamertine prison and in chains in Rome Paul writes. Page two 1 Timothy 3:14 “These things I write to you, though I hope to come to you shortly 15. but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 16. And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen of angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.” NKJV In terms of Christian belief, the incarnation of Jesus of Nazareth could be the most important fact of New Testament revelation. Without the pre-existence of Jesus Christ, the incarnation would not be possible. Without the incarnation regeneration could never happen and the plan of redemption would fail for lack of a redeemer. The proof and approval of the obedience of Jesus to His Fathers will came at His baptism by John in the river Jordan. The divine God Head was present at this Holy event to begin the public ministry of Jesus of Nazareth. With this before us let us consider the Pre-Existence of Jesus of Nazareth. A - When Paul wrote to his spiritual son, Timothy, he addressed first the incarnation. Thus, he puts first the importance of Jesus’ pre-existence. “God was manifested in the flesh” (1Timothy 3:16). B - The pre-existence of Jesus means that Christ was already the Son of God before He became the Son of Man. C - The best support for the pre-existence fact is from Jesus Himself, if you believe the Word of God. John 8:56 “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” John 8:58 “Jesus said to them. “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” John 17:5 “And now, O Father glorify Me together with Yourself with the glory which I had with You before the world was.” Revelation 22:13 “I am Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Page three Illustration: If you were applying for life or health insurance you might be asked if you had any pre-existing health conditions. The Word of God, that is the Bible, continually reveals Christ existed before His incarnation and before all things were created. John 3:17 “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 17:24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.” D - God formed Adam from the dust of the ground but He later made Eve out of Adam. Genesis 2:21. “And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in ts place. 22. Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23. And Adam said: “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh: She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.” Adam was first in the mind of our Father God, then Adam was formed out of the dust of the ground and God breathed into him the breath of life (Genesis 2:7). If Adam was in the thoughts of God then he is of God. We can see that when Christ was on the cross the spear was driven into His side and blood and water flowed out of His body (John 19:34). The blood and water from Jesus’ side brought cleansing and salvation in redemptive power to all who believe in Jesus as the Lamb of God (John 1:29). We know it was not nails that held Jesus on the cross but it was love for you and me. We know, by the Words of Jesus from the cross, that when He was on the cross we were on His mind. Now it is clear to see that before Adam was formed he was in the mind of our Heavenly Father God. John tells us “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God” (John 1:1 ). We now see Christ as the Word of God. Words are modes of transporting thought (Psalms 139:17), and Christ is known as the Logos or the living Word. Christ is of and proceeds from the Father or the part of God that comes out to us (John 3:16, 8:12) to reveal the thoughts of our Heavenly Father. “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation” (Colossians 1:15). President Ron White is a man of faith and prayer. He has wisely chosen to lead Emmanuel College on his knees. The Bible says, "The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (James 5:16, NKJV). Let us join with Dr. Ron White in daily prayers for Emmanuel College and for Dr. White and Carol, his wife. Here is what he wrote on Monday, August 28, 2018: To Walk Humbly "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8, NIV). Today's meditation: May we ever grow closer to God's expectations for us which are good for us, should inspire us, and will make us better people. Pray today: For God to help us live right, love well, and walk with God, for students, staff and faculty to experience unity in Christ and in our common mission to live for Jesus and proclaim His Kingdom come. Pray for the top three needs of Emmanuel College:
Pray for upcoming events and activities:.

What task has God assigned you? Has He assigned you to establish a home, strengthen a marriage, lead a family, serve a church, teach in a classroom, or comfort in a sick room? Check your attitude toward the assignment. Do you grumble and complain about it? Do you neglect and ignore it? Do you resent and reject it? Or do you enjoy fulfilling it as your service unto the Lord? God wants you and me to enjoy our service to Him, whatever it may be. And He also wants us to discuss each detail with Him as we do the work. One of His pleasures, as well as ours, is the joy of working together as we complete the task. 43 But now, thus says the Lord, Who created you, O Jacob, And He Who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. 3 For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. 4 Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life. 5 Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, And gather you from the west; 6 I will say to the north, 'Give them up!' And to the south, 'Do not keep them back!' Morgan Founder, CEO, Editor of Hugh's News.Inc. Email: hugh@hughsnews.com Website: www.hughsnews.com This past Tuesday marked one of the most difficult days in the presidency of Donald Trump. Paul Manafort was convicted. Michael Cohen pled guilty. Worse still, Cohen claimed that Trump was complicit with him in committing federal crimes. Cries for impeachment were never louder. The liberal media was positively giddy. The radical leftwing was totally unhinged. This will be the end of Trump's presidency! In reality, there's substantial debate as to whether Trump committed any crimes, even if Cohen was telling the truth. And in the days that followed, some liberal leaders, including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, backed away from impeachment calls. But there's no doubt that this hellish Monday will haunt the president in the days to come. The question is: Did a prominent evangelical pastor predict this was coming just the day before? John Kilpatrick came to national prominence as the pastoral leader of the Brownsville Revival (1995-2000), called by some church historians the nation's largest local-church revival. I served in leadership with Pastor Kilpatrick from 1996-2000 as the head of our ministry school, and I know him to be a man of integrity. So this video clip got my attention when I saw it a few days ago. He had finished preaching his sermon on Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Church of His Presence in Alabama, when he shared this important message. Was it a direct warning about what broke loose the very next day? But it was Jezebel who was more sinister, the driving force behind her husband's sins. It was Jezebel who killed Israel's prophets, recognizing them as a direct threat to her authority, since she herself was a non-Israelite idol worshiper. And it is this Jezebel-type influence that John Kilpatrick calls "witchcraft." This is the Biblical imagery used by Pastor Kilpatrick, who spoke of a new wave of attacks coming against the president as he sought to drain the swamp. Is this a genuine prophetic warning, accompanied by an urgent call to prayer? Watch, and judge for yourself. Whatever your conclusion and whatever your view of the president, I hope we can agree that, at a time like this, the president and our nation need our prayers. Watch Here. Connect with him on Facebook or Twitter, or YouTube.] [Editor's Comment: I had watched as short clip of this full-length worship service where at the conclusion of Pastor John Kilpatrick changed gears and took on the role of a prophet. He claimed in the video that he was coming to his congregation as a prophet. I went back to the Internet and it was not there. I had wanted to see it again. However, Michael Brown wrote about it on Monday, August 27, and had the full service where John Kilpatrick prophesied. And I saw it in a different light, and felt I should report it to the readers of Hugh's News for your prayerful consideration and evaluation. What does the Bible say about a prophet? Deuteronomy 18:20-22 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' 21 And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?' — 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. NKJV My role as a Christian journalist is to report the news. It is for you to decide if this prophetic word is from the Lord concerning witchcraft and evil forces coming against President Donald Trump. I am not a prophet. That is a gift God gives to whomever He wills. It is one of the five-fold gifts that Jesus Christ gave to the leadership of the church. Those gifts are: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers (Ephesians 4:11-13). Here's the Scripture for these leadership gifts Jesus, Himself, gave after he had ascended back to heaven: Ephesians 4:11-13 Equip the saints for the work of ministry, and the edifying of the body of Christ And He Himself (Jesus Christ) gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, NKJV We are commanded to pray for our president. Early on when Donald Trump was elected I asked you my readers to join with me in praying daily for him, his wife, and family. The Apostle Paul wrote these words to Timothy: 1 Timothy 2:1-4 Prayers for Kings or Presidents and all that are in authority 1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. KJV The hatred of our president is unprecedented in our country's history. We need to pray that God will protect and preserve our president. We all know that he is a flawed man, and so are we. Jesus said to the men who accused a woman of adultery, "He who is without sin cast the first stone" (John 8:7). Let's pray for Pastor John Kilpatrick, his family and church as well. May God grant us wisdom, strength, and a Biblical perception of what is happening with the spirit of discernment. I encourage you to write me and share your thoughts. Hugh H.
