The following is an update report written by Joy Williams Swails, wife of Johnny Swails, a professor at Oral Roberts University, about Ruthe Williams Brookshire.
Today we were very happy to see some progress. BP is holding steady enough to pull her off some meds. She came off the breathing machine and began to gradually talk a bit. This morning she wanted to write questions to Joseph!!! She recognizes people and can converse a bit, but she is groggy enough w/meds that she dozes off soon!
Ruthe is very grateful for your prayers and sends her love! Physically she is still very sick. Her kidneys are not functioning well, but they hope that will improve as the antibiotics deal with the infection in the kidneys and blood.
The road to recovery may be long, but we know the Master Healer! God is good! I thank Him for what I've seen this day!!!
[Note: I am grateful to Wesley Russ in Beltsville, MD for this report he got off FaceBook.]
[Editor's comment: How grateful we all are for this report from Joy Williams Swails. I understand that Silvia Williams Swails, the widow of John Swails, is here in Franklin Springs and is visiting Ruthe in the hospital in Athens. I finally got the phone number for Jospeh Brookshire, Ruthe's son who is home. Joseph is an honorable and loving son. He was faithful to the very end in caring for his father when he was so sick in 2008 and finally died in the same hospital. I was greatly impressed by him. Then, I was inspired by the three adult children who spoke lovingly of their father at his memorial service at the Franklin Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Ruthe is a Godly Christian lady. She loves Jesus and is obedient to our Lord's Great Commission. Although she could stay home in retirement Ruthe volunteered to be a Special Assignment Missionary for the IPHC World Misssions Ministries in Africa. She is home on Medical leave to have the surgery in the early part of September.
God is now giving us an great opportunity to pray for Ruthe Bookshire in her time of crisis that is threatening her life. Jesus said, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10, NKJV).
Join with Melvine me, and an army of other Spirit-empowered Christians in praying the prayer of faith for Ruthe Brookshire. Jesus said this in John 15:16, "You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you" (NKJV).
We believe that when we pray in agreement with God's Word and His Will, He will grant our petition we have desired of Him.
