I cannot remember a time when I didn't know Jerry B. Walker. I adored him like an uncle or a special member of my family.
He was born to preach. Of that I am certain. You knew that the Lord would show up in a powerful way whenever Jerry B. was preaching. I remember one time in particular when he called me out in a revival and told me that the Lord was going to bless me. At that point in my life I had been teaching First Grade for eight years. I was wanting to go back to school to get my master's degree in education. I had just taken the Miller's Analogy Test (MAT), an entrance exam for graduate school. I was so nervous and had earnestly prayed about the decision to go back to school. I knew that I had to make a certain number or I wouldn't be accepted into the program. Jerry B. told me that God knew my heart and that He was going to promote me soon. The very next day I received my results in the mail, and I had made more points than I needed! I was so excited that I ran to tell Jerry B. in the parking lot about it before the church service began.
When I was diagnosed with cancer a few years later he called me at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and told me that he knew God would heal me. He, also stated, "But I don't have to like it!" He sent me the most gorgeous flower arrangement with a ribbon that had dogs all over it. We shared a common bond--a love for dogs.
I always looked forward to hearing him preach. He always looked sharp and honored God in every aspect of being the evangelist he was called by God to be. My only regret is that he will not be able to help perform my wedding. I love him and will greatly miss him. I praise the Lord that he is in heaven now with the many saints who have gone on before him. I am blessed to have known him.

[Editor's comment: Stephanie was called by God to go to heaven on August 3, 2012. Stephanie and Jerry B. Walker are now forever with the Lord. One day I plan to join them in that eternal city. There is only one way to get there--it is by the way of the Cross. Jesus' blood can atone for your sins, too. Call upon Him just now. On the day of Pentecost Peter preached and said, "' . . . everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved'" (Acts 2:21, NIV).
