A Telephone Conversation with Bishop Leon O. Stewart
Author: Hugh H. Morgan
On Saturday, March 18, I made a telephone call to Bishop Leon O. Stewart who resides in assisted living in Atmore, Alabama. His two daughters are there taking good care of their father. Denise, his youngest daughter, answered the call. It was a delight to talk with her. I have known her and Diane since they were born. She handed the phone to her father for me to talk with him.
Leon is in grief and I felt the heavyness of it--no longer can he talk with her or hold her hand. He misses the love of his life, the lady who was just about everything to him. She was his eyes for you see Bishop Leon Stewart is a blind man. I mentioned to him the story of Jesus healing a man who was blind from birth, giving him something he had never had before in his life. The blind man did not know Who healed him. Blind men and women see things we may never see. I marvel at the insights that Leon has about life and spiritual things.
Leon told me that Donna was the most intelligent person he had ever met. She was not only brilliant, but loved God and served Him all of her life. In the midst of it all, she served and blessed many other people.
I am confident that Diane and Denise will take good care of their father and see him through this season of his life now in his early 90s.
May I encourage you to pray for Bishop Leon O. Stewart and lift his name before God as He provides for his every need.
