Saturdays for the Morgan family in recent years have moved from a rather busy day with all sorts of activities to a more leisurely day of few physical exercises. As we have grown older those varied activities have been replaced with with less strenuous things.
Melvine was up at least thirty minutes before I awaken and I heard her listening to Fox News or Fox Kingdom. She had already made a cup of coffee, and offered to make me a cup of coffee. l wanted to give Melvine her medications which I had prepared on Friday evening.
I do her vital signs first then I take my blood pressure, and heart rate, followed by taking my blood sugar and recording them accordingly.
Melvine remembers every birthday, anniversary, and every important event. She is a walking, living historian. She reminded Greg and me that today, Saturday, November 24, is Julia Frances Morgan's 56th birthday. She was a still birth in Lexington, KY, on November 24, 1962. She had to be taken by C Section. The doctor waited 30 minutes too late to take her from her mother's womb. That year was my senior year at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY, about 17 miles from Lexington. Julia Frances is buried in the Lexington Memorial Cemetery in the Children's Section. Dr. Frank Bateman Stanger, the president of Asbury Theological Seminary conducted a beautiful graveside service for Julia Frances. Julia Frances would be 56 today, Greg is 54, and Stephanie would be 52. We are grateful we still have Greg and he is serving the Lord. He is to sing a solo today in morning worship at our church.
During the football season we watch the Georgia Bulldog Game Day Show that gives an update on Georgia and the team we are playing and a preview of what might happen. That program comes on at 10. We were playing Georgia Tech that has a triple option offense which is difficult to defend. However, Georgia did a commendable job in taking that offense apart and running their game plan with power and points.
Of course, we are looking forward to playing Alabama and the Crimson Tide next Saturday for the SEC Championship. Although Georgia has greatly improved under the leadership of Coach Kirby Smart, I am not confident we can beat the number one collegiate football team in the nation. I am not sure any team can beat the Crimson Tide. They are in the category of the NFL teams.
Well, the winner of the SEC Championship will be decided in Atlanta at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, December 1. Coach Nick Saban has the gift of winning and he knows how to recruit and build championship teams. He is the master coach.
We watched Georgia beat Georgia Tech 45-21 between the hedges in Athens on TV, followed by the Alabama/Auburn game in Tuscaloosa with 102,000 fans in the Bryant-Denny stadium. The Tide rolled over Auburn 52-21.
For breakfast, we ate sausage and eggs, tenderloin dipped, and sausage biscuits. Melvine likes McDonald's, and Greg and I like Dairy Queen. However, we love the hash-browns from Mickey D's.
Melvine prepared hot dogs for supper with chili, onions, mayonnaise, catch up and mustard and hash rounds. Melvine and I like diet cokes and Greg likes a regular coke to drink. Melvine and I are drinking more water these days.
We had lemon and vanilla pound cake and vanilla ice cream for desert.
Greg and Melvine watched their favorite game shows and I went to my computer to see what I would do for Sunday's edition of Hugh's News.
Melvine had her personal devotions earlier, and I will spend some time when I finish here with this Hugh's News, reading from the Book of Deuteronomy, and Scriptures in the New Testament. When I was a graduate student at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, I spent hours reading the Book of Deuteronomy and commentaries and books about this very important book in the Pentateuch. Because this Book in the Old Testament was important to Jesus and he used it in every quote He made from this Book to defeat the devil or Satan in the Wilderness I believe it is something I need to pay attention to and reap the rewards from this study and meditation.

Melvine, Greg, and I are hoping to attend Sunday school and church today, Sunday, November 25, at Christian Life Worship Service. We are blessed to have a Sunday school class like the one we attend in Stephanie's Place on the lower level of our educational building. The Celebration Class Now is a cross generational gathering of various ages of adults that meets on Sunday mornings at 10 to study and discuss the Bible lesson. You may enter the classroom from the parking lot that is adjacent to a rose garden. You are welcome to attend. Lavon and Arlette Revells are our teachers or facilitators. It begins at 10 o'clock.
Morning worship begins at 11 a. m.
Christian Life Worship Center is the church where we are members and attend. It is located at 125 Kathwood Drive in Athens, GA 30607.
