What a delight it was to receive this email from Air Force Chaplain, Major Chad Bellamy on Wednesday of Holy Week. It is good news and it will be happening at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea on Good Friday, which is tomorrow.
The following is the email from Chaplain Chad Bellamy:
"I wanted to drop you a very short note to share that my promotion ceremony to Lieutenant Colonel will take place on Friday, 30 March here at Kunsan AB, South Korea. Jeri arrived here yesterday and will be visiting with me for a few days before returning to South Carolina. I am grateful she can participate in the ceremony.
"I just wanted to share with you because you have invested so much into my life. Thank you for everything."
Jeri has been an ideal chaplain's wife and the mother of three wonderful children, the Mighty Parker who is a student at Emmanuel College, Sweet Daisy and Adorable Asher who looks and acts just like his father, Chad.
I'll never forget the night I first met Chad Bellamy. He had come for a wedding rehearsal for my youth pastor, Randy Williams, who was marrying one of the beautiful young ladies in our church, Mary Espinosa.
To my knowledge I don't ever remember seeing Chad before. I saw him standing in the aisle and I walked up to him and asked this question: "Young man, What is your name?" to which he replied, "Chad Bellamy." I said, "Chad, have you ever considered becoming an Air Force chaplain?" Without any hesitation, he said, "No, Sir!" Then, I added, "Although you may have never thought about it before, I want you to know that you will be thinking and praying about it. And, I will be praying for you."
You see, I was able to see him through the eyes of prophetic vision in an Air Force blue uniform with a cross over the left pocket above several rows of ribbons.
Sure enough, God did work on Chad, and later on Jeri whom he married. It took Jeri longer to come to realize that God was calling her too. Through the excellent friendship of Air Force Chaplain Jamie Braswell and his wife, Sandra, who invited them to drive down to Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, to spend some quality time with them and to look around the base, God convinced Jeri of the calling of Chad to be an Air Force chaplain, and for Jeri to receive a call from God as well.
It was my distinct honor to administer the oath of office for Chad in Athens at the Air
Force Recruiter's office when he was commissioned an officer in the Air Force. At that time, Chad was our associate pastor and minister to our youth.
Both Jamie and Chad have furthered their education by earning the Doctor of Ministry degrees, and various Professional Military Schools where they both excelled.
It is my firm belief that both Jamie and Chad will be promoted to full colonel as some point in the future. Jamie Braswell is also a Lieutenant Colonel. I am very proud of both these outstanding men as well as their wives.
