In our modern era of the church, I have noticed that in some of our churches, not all, there is an absence of singing the great hymns and Gospel songs of the church.
Consequently, our youth, young couples and older people are not getting in worship the kinds of Biblical theology that has been put to music to satisfy the souls of the worshipers and prepare them for daily living as a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I feel compelled to begin a series of publishing some of the hymns and Gospel songs that have stood the test of time and have provided a solace for peace in the battles of life, an affirmation of one's salvation and walk with Jesus Christ, and a comfort to those who know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
I have selected for today a hymn I learned as a child and one that I have loved all of my life. It is entitled, "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus." I have learned that I can trust every Word Jesus said for He is the Word Who created all there is, and made man in His own image. He is the only way to God the Father. I have placed my trust in Jesus since I was six years old.
You may listen to this song sung by simply by Clicking Here on this hyperlink that I have prepared for you to utilize. This video is one of Gerald Wolfe's Gospel Hymn Sings. I have two DVD's we enjoy watching and singing along. You will hear Susan Whisnant, Jim Brady, and Austin Whisnant sing this hymn. May God speak to your heart today wherever you may be. It is my prayer that Jesus will meet your every need as you trust Him. If you let this video continue to roll after the song you can hear other hymns and Gospel songs, e. g., "Glory to His Name" and "At Calvary" to name a couple.
Here are the lyrics to "'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus":
Words: Louisa M. R. Stead, 1882
Music: William J. Kirkpatrick
’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus says the Lord!”
Refrain
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Refrain
Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.
Refrain
I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.
