A Body He Was Given
Author: Ron Gadberry
A body He was given that to man He might relate
And He left behind a palace
bright behind a golden gate
And He gathered close around Him
those whose hearts would beat with His
And the greatest gift to grace the world
Was love, ‘twas His to give
Twelve men He gathered ‘round Him,
men with whom He shared His truth
And women too who worshipped Him
Though others stood aloof
A Kingdom to Him promised
Fell to ruin when He died
The twelve abandoned Him and ran
The women simply cried
The world to which He gave Himself
Required of Him His life
“Twas His to give, He freely gave
And bought Himself a wife
He called Himself Her Savior
And though she struggled much
He filled her life with peace and joy
With just a simple touch
But in the struggles that ensued
Eleven frightened men
Became a mighty mega church
Five hundred followed Him
Then as His broken body
Glorified was caught away
One hundred twenty hid themselves
And heaven heard them pray
A wall of malice wide and high
Sought to destroy the hope
That held together God and man
Though none discerned the scope
That power such a love would wield
When unleashed in the earth
The mighty church of Jesus Christ
Made holy by new birth
Dunamis, that mighty force
By which the church prevailed
Overcame mans’ doubts and fears
The gates of hell assailed
And those whose hearts were bound to His
Received a robe and crown
And found in Him the bridegroom fair
Their world turned right side up
