As I have sought the Lord about 2016, I keep hearing in my spirit these two words: Choices and Decisions.
If you and I have ever asked for wisdom now is the time to ask God for wisdom. James, a half brother to our Lord Jesus Christ, wrote in his epistle these words concerning obtaining wisdom from God simply by asking Him for wisdom:
James 1:5-8
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, Who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.
NIV
God is looking for people who are focused on seeking the Kingdom of God above everything else. We must determine now that we will have one desire above all others and that is to please the Lord and fulfill the divine purposes for our lives.
It was Samuel who told the people of Israel: "Only fear the LORD, and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you" (1 Samuel 12:24, NKJV).
The Apostle Paul wrote,
"No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love Him"--
but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit.
(1 Corinthians 2:6-7 NIV)
It was the Apostle Paul who exhorted young Timothy to "stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:6-7, KJV).
Are there projects or ministries God has called you to do and you have not started to begin them. Why do you delay and not get on with it? Starting an assignment is the biggest step to make, but when we take that step, other steps will become easier to accomplish.
At the beginning of this new year is the time to start that assignment you believe God has called you to do. This is no time to hesitate or delay. Let's get on with it, and see what God will enable us to do in 2016,
Let me leave you with my own paraphrase of Daniel's last sentence in the prayer he payed in the second chapter of Daniel:
"May God grant you wisdom, strength and glowing health in 2016 (Daniel 2:23, Hugh H. Morgan's paraphrase).
