Do you remember my sharing with you that God gave me one word for the new year of 2017. That word was "Room."
I must admit I had no clue what it meant. But as I thought about room and meditated on that word I began to understand what it meant to me.
First, God was saying to me that I needed to make room for more people in my life. I had ignored and unintentionally overlooked people. God was reminding me that every person is valuable to Him and that I needed to enlarge my knowledge of people and make room for them in my heart and prayers as well as relationships.
Meanwhile, I read this prophecy by Jennifer LeClaire a senior editor for Charisma: "The Lord is making room for a season of plenty. As in the story of Joseph, there were seven years of plenty, and I felt the Lord saying, as His people have faithfully prayed through the famine, through the wilderness and through the darkness, "You have stored up in the heavens the seeds of intercession for breakthrough."
God has certainly made me aware of more people and I have endeavored to speak kindly to them with words of love, hope, and promise.
I came across a benediction that Billy Graham has written that spoke volumes to my life. I added two words, joy and peace. Let me share it with you now:
"May your troubles be less, your blessings more; and may nothing but joy, peace, and happiness come through your door. Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil. It has not point" (Billy Graham and Hugh Morgan [I added joy and peace]).
This benediction has become a springboard for me to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am finding that people are interested. What a joy it is to share the Gospel of the Kingdom of God with those who will listen.
For the last two Sundays we have had 20 adults in our Celebration Sunday School Class at Christian Life Worship Center in Athens, GA. Lavon and Arlette Revells are our class facilitators. They are the best of the best. I prophesied last Sunday that in 2018 God will help us to double that number and we will have 40 adults studying God's Word together. It is a wonderful class and we all know each other, but we are open to make room for more people whom we will love and accept.
This Sunday, Christmas Eve, we will not have Sunday school, but a breakfast in Stephanie's Place (fellowship hall), at 9:30. Then, we will go upstairs to our church sanctuary for morning worship. You are welcomed to join with us this Sunday. We are making room for you.
