Columbia, SC-- The Emmanuel Women's Basketball Team took on Columbia International in the Regional Championship for the NCCAA. The ladies pulled out a victory with a final score of 72-57. Timia Reynolds and Elise Coberly led the team in scoring with 21-points each. Elise Coberly and Lochlain Corliss both killed the game with rebounds.
Elise Coberly scored the first two points with a jump shot from an offensive rebound by Avery Scarbrough. Columbia started fouling early allowing Timia Reynolds to add two points to the board. Lochlain Corliss made a layup to tie the game 6-6. Timia Reynolds made a jump shot to bring the ladies in front. Avery Scarbrough and Elise Coberly followed through with jump shots to increase the ladies lead 6-12. Elise Coberly was good for the first 3-pointer of the game. Timia Reynolds finished the first quarter with a layup, which brought the final score to 9-19.
Lady Lions were leading at the start of the second quarter by ten and kept going with Avery Scarbrough scoring the first two points. Timia Reynolds put up her first 3-pointer of the game. Ashlyn Loudermlik had a huge block against Columbia followed by a 3-pointer from Mikayla Trombley. Columbia picked up their defense, but Elise Coberly worked her way around to put up her second 3-pointer. Timia Reynolds stole the ball from Columbia to charge down the court for a layup to end the second quarter. The Lady Lions were up 21-34 going into the half.
Mikayla Trombley scored the first points of the third quarter three minutes in. Timia Reynolds followed with a layup and was fouled on the shot. She made her free throw Elise Coberly scored three back-to-back jump shots. Mikayla Trombley would end the third quarter with two completed free throws. The ladies were up by 16-points, 32-48.
Timia Reynolds was good for her first 3-pointer at the start of the fourth. She turned around to make a layup. Avery Scarbrough was fouled by Columbia and cleared two free throws. Columbia handed out a couple more fouls to Elise Coberly and Mikayla Trombley, both who would make their shots. Elise Coberly turned around to make a jump shot and one more free throw. Mikayla Trombley made a layup towards the end of the quarter. Ajah Taylor was fouled and ended the game with two completed free throws. The Lady Lions walked away victorious as the Regional Champions, with a final score 57-72.
