[Editor's comment: I met Verne when became pastor of Tarkenton Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Athens, Georgia. Verne and his brother, Wayne, were present at the parsonage when Lester Cape drove up with me in the rental truck with it full of furniture and household goods. They were to show their appreciation and love for their new pastor and his wife by unloading the furniture as Lester Cape directed them.
That day when I met Verne and Wayne Stalvey was the beginning of a long time relationship that meaningful to both of us. Verne and Wayne were in the house painting business, and they painted the church and parsonage as needed, as well as painting a newly built literature holder, and our altar rails I had Henry Shaw to design and build.
Verne married up when he married Sarah Daniels. Melvine and I were pleased with his marrying Sarah.
It is my prayer that God will bring comfort and peace to the family.
