Dear Students and Friends of SCU,
This morning I was joined by two alumni of Southwestern Christian University, Dr. Jon Chasteen and Dr. Adrian Hinkle. Dr. Jon Chasteen serves on the board of SCU and is the Lead Pastor of Victory Church in Oklahoma City and Edmond. Dr. Adrian Hinkle, a scholar and consummate academician, serves as SCU's Vice President for Academic Affairs and has been associated with the University since 1999.
As alumni and leaders, we felt the need to encourage and reiterate our commitment to the vision and mission of SCU. As with any life's endeavor, challenges and hardships must be overcome, and at SCU we are resolute and continue to forge ahead with offering rigorous academics pursued from a Christian worldview and a vibrant spiritual atmosphere and campus climate designed to prepare students for a life of national and global impact. Like numerous private colleges in the US, we do not receive federal or state budget appropriations to assist with our operational costs. We rely on the financial support of friends, various churches and entities, and our sponsoring denomination, the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. For this we are thankful.
We are in the middle of a fundraising campaign, negotiations and exploring the best way to leverage our resources in a manner that enables us to enhance our ability to fulfill our mission and vision. For example, we have placed the Western Oaks Tower, a building located on 23rd street, on the market. This is the tallest building in Bethany which was donated to University in 2015. This is not uncommon for institutions like us. God has been good to SCU and I appreciate your prayers and support. Please watch the video message, and continue supporting the ongoing mission of SCU.
Joyful in His service,

On with the Mission
"For over 70 years, Southwestern has been a strong influence for Good."
These were the words of a friend, supporter, and former SCU president, Dr. Hugh Morgan, as he was praying for me and the university this morning. At SCU we are guided by our collective ethos of Scholarship, Spirit and Service and we continue to be the university of choice for those seeking a Christ-centered education that equips for a life of learning, leadership and service, and that empowers individuals to make a positive impact in the world.
SCU's faculty are known for their nurturing, compassionate and mission-minded approach to teaching, modeling and mentoring. Through their efforts, SCU's influence and reach continues to increase every year and has reached over 30 countries in the past three years. Frequently I hear about our graduates' involvement in start-up companies, church plants, acts of selfless service, and other leadership roles here and abroad, and I marvel at how the words of Dr. Morgan ring true. We are a strong influence for Good and we forge ahead with our mission.
