It is a personal joy to announce to you what God is doing at Southwestern Christian University.
For over 70 years Southwestern College, now Southwestern Christian University, has been a beacon of light for Christian higher education that is Christ-centered not only for IPHC youth in the west, but for youth from coast to coast, and north to south, regardless of their religious background.
God gave a vision for Southwestern College to two men: Dr. R. O. Corvin and Oral Roberts. It is an amazing history. Our people responded then as well as over the intervening years to help support this great Christian college with Pentecostal Holiness and evangelical teaching that is Christ-centered as well as conservative in a world of liberalism.
It was Oral Roberts and Lee Braxton who gave the money for the first administration building.
Overshadowing the founding of this university has been the greatest work and ministry of the graduates who have joined the host of youth who have answered the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples to pray that God would send laborers into the harvest field for the harvest is ripe. There is no greater mission.
We live in a world with mind-boggling changes. The cultural, technological and political landcape is dramatically changing. However, in times like these, we must pause to remember there are some things that never change. People are still sinners. The world is still lost without Jesus Christ and need Him as their Savior and Lord. The Gospel is still the answer. That is the good news the world needs to hear.
That is why Southwestern Christian University must stand firm and rise to the challenge of changing times and re-present the Gospel in fresh and compelling ways.
Every Christian college or university goes through financial crises. Southwestern is in the mist of one now, and we need to come to the rescue to give as God has given so graciously to us.
I will share with you once again the video that Presiding Bishop Doug Beacham, General Superintendent of the IPHC, and Bishop Tommy McGhee, Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Discipleship Ministries have produced. Let us respond to our leaders who have shared the financial need of Southwestern and give accordingly as God has blessed us.
In addition, I want to share with you a video that President Reggies Wenyika, Dr. Jon Chasteen and Dr. Adrian Hinkle have made to assist us in our response to give to help Southwestern Christian University. Look for it in the article just below this one.
