This morning I wrote Crystal Sisk, the executive secretary to Pastor John Hedgepeth for an update of Pastor John Hedgepeth, as well as how you and I can send "Get-Well" Cards to John.
Here is Crystal's response:
Dear Rev. Morgan,
Pastor John Hedgepeth was moved to the Rehab section of the hospital last Friday. He is having morning and afternoon physical therapy sessions. He is on a rather rigorous schedule and resting between sessions. He is doing well and very encouraged. Please continue to pray for his recovery. He desires to be home for Christmas.
Please send any "Get Well" greetings to the church address, and the staff will make sure he receives them.
The address is: Northwood Temple Church, 4250 Ramsey St., Fayetteville, NC 28311.
[Editor's comment: I want to thank my first cousin Mary Anne Shropshire Weeks, by marriage to Melvine, for the God-Idea to get the mailing address where she and many of our readers can send John "get-well" cards. She and her husband Evertte Weeks reside in Richmond, VA. Mary Anne wrote the following in an e-mail:
"Hugh, I attended high school in the 9th grade at Emmanuel while John Hedgepath was a freshman in college. Everette and I attended his church numerous times when Jerry B. Walker held revivals there. Could you please send his church address or an address where readers could send him a card? Shalom, Mary Anne."
Our Stephanie and Mary Anne look quite alike. They have the same mannerisms that Melvine's mother had. They can't be copied or imitated. They are features of the DNA. Mary Anne and Stephanie are alike in their love for God, their faith, study of the Bible, and faithfulness in prayer as well. If you have a need, Mary Anne will get through to heaven for you. She has for me on many occasions.
Bishop D. Chris Thompson and his wife, Betty, visited with John on Sunday and gave me a report of their visit. Bishop Thompson and Betty have not lost the pastor's heart, and continue to provide pastoral care to ministers in their conference--North Carolina.]
