TIGERVILLE, SC -- The Emmanuel College women's basketball team fell to conference opponent North Greenville University 59-57 on Wednesday night.
After a slow first quarter, the Lions tied the game up at 11-11. A 4-1 run from the Crusaders would give them a lead that they would hold for the remainder of the first half. The Crusaders continued to build their lead with a 13-1 run to lead by 14 points. The Lions were able to cut their deficit down to just 9 by the end of the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lions rallied with a 17-2 run to take the lead 57-52 with just over 30 seconds remaining in the game. NGU's Karen Donehew would then score five points to tie the game up at 57-57. Emmanuel would try one last time to take the lead, but a missed jumper allowed the Crusaders one last possession. With just a second left on the clock, NGU's Savannah Hughes would hit a jumper, giving the Crusaders a 59-57 victory.
Sophomore Breanna Locke led the Lions with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
Next up for the Lions is Warner University on Saturday, December 15th in Lake Wales, Florida.
