28 Later, knowing that all was now completed, and so that the Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, "I am thirsty." 29 A jar of wine vinegar was there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put the sponge on a stalk of the hyssop plant, and lifted it to Jesus' lips. 30 When He had received the drink, Jesus said, "It is finished." With that, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
[Editor's Comment: Jesus finished the work He was to do by suffering and dying on the Cross. He fulfilled all Scripture concerning the plan of redemption that was determined in the councils of God before the foundation of the earth. He was God's Lamb without sin. He has done everything for you and me to be forgiven of our sins, and given eternal life. Our assignment is to repent (turn away from our sin), confess our sins, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
1 John 5:1-5
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves His child as well. 2 This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out His commands. 3 This is love for God: to obey His commands. And His commands are not burdensome, 4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
To be an overcomer we must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing or trusting Him we have eternal life that begins now in this life and continues in the life to come beyond this earthly life.
Have your placed your trust in Jesus?
I implore you to do so right now on this Good Friday 2017.
