2 Timothy 4:16-22
16 At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them.
17 The Lord Is Faithful
But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. 18 And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
NKJV
[Editor's Comment: It is an awful feeling to think that those we love and to whom we have given our very best fail to stand with us when we are put through the fire. We believe they should stand up for us, and come to our defense. Unfortunately, it doesn't always happen the way we would like for it to happen.
The Apostle felt that way. He tells us that at his first defense before Roman authorities no one stood with him. Oh, the human spirit can be greatly disappointed when those who know us best fail to speak up for us when we have been wrongfully dismissed, mistreated, and cast away.
Take courage. Paul say, ". . . but the Lord stood with me and strengthened me." What He did for Paul He will do for you. Let time and space fill the vacuum. Wait patiently for God to exonerate you in due season. In the meantime, ask God what He would have you learn from this devastating experience.]
