, Acts 1:4-14
And being assembled together with them, He (Jesus) commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the Kingdom to Israel?" 7 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
9 Jesus Ascends to Heaven
(Mark 16:19,20; Luke 24:50-53)
Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."
12 The Upper Room Prayer Meeting
Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day's journey. 13 And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas the son of James. 14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

[Editor's Comment: It is imperative that we understand that the Source for Global Missions is the Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Holy Trinity.
In the Gospels of Luke and John we see that the giving of the Great Commission is clearly ascribed to Jesus as He assures His disciples that the Holy Spirit in the life of the Spirit-filled believer will be their Source.
It is Luke's account that spells it out: "And (Jesus) said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.
50 And He led them out as far as to Bethany, and He lifted up His hands, and blessed them.
51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, He was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.
52 And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
53 And were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.
Luke 24:46-53, KJV
I like John's account of the giving of the Great Commission on the night of the resurrection of Jesus:
John 20:21-22:
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent Me, even so send I you.
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

It was Andrew Murray who boldly said, "Missions are the typical work of the Holy Spirit. No one may expect to be filled with the Spirit if he is not willing to be used for missions."
Let us prepare ourselves for Pentecost Sunday which is Sunday, June 4, 2017.
