You and I are living in days that test the souls of men. We all need an anchor that will hold though the winds and storms rage all around us. That anchor is Jesus Christ.
It was in September of 2018 when the doctors at St. Mary's hospital in Athens, Georgia discovered that Melvine had an ovarian cancer. It was determined that it was stage 3 in its growth. As we met with the oncologist and looked at the various options that were available through modern medicine, we chose the plan of chemotherapy.
Melvine went through several courses of chemotherapy. Standing with us though that long and tedious experience was Bonnie Bender, a retired nurse, who went with Melvine and me to almost every one of the chemo sessions.
A little over a month, after a CAT Scan and extensive blood work, it was determined that nothing more could be done for Melvine medically, and the oncologist referred Melvine to Home Hospice Care.
We were thinking more of death than of life. That is, I was. However, Melvine never bought into it. One day she boldly proclaimed, "I am not going to die, I am going to live forever." About the same time, Melvine's first cousin, Mary Ann Shropshire Weeks and her husband, Everette, came to visit us from Richmond, VA. That visit and ministry was the defining moment that has changed our outlooked and helped us to focus our attention on God and to place our trust in Jesus Christ Who is the Great Physician.
Now, we can declare with confident assurance:
Psalm 118:17
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
KJV
The future and outcome is now in the Hands of God.
We want to thank you all for standing with us in believing faith and not giving up.
We deeply appreciate your faith in God for Melvine, your cards, letters, emails, etc.
