When Giants Look Small
Author: Ronald Gadberry
Much time is spent in wonder over David and the giant
Just tell me how he did it though you really can’t decry it
A single slinging stone he flung with sure and deadly aim He never missed,
there is no twist, the enemy was slain
He felt no fear for God was near and in his heart he knew it
So when Goliath hit the ground he grasped his sword and drew it
The severed head proved he was dead their army fled in terror
To fight against the Mighty God had proved a fatal error
But giants weren’t the first to fall before that deadly slinger
The fighter was a poet too by paradox a singer
His exploits were addressed in song he later sang in Zion Of conquests
when he killed a bear and later on a lion
Tried and tested in the field he knew his God was able
That Noah saved by trusting Him was more than just a fable
And if the Lord was faithful then to those who would obey Him
Then He would surely save again from rampant fear and mayhem
The miracles performed by God recorded in the Bible
Should fill our hearts with boldness, we’re not trusting in an idol
When desperation rising up seems o’er our lives to tower
That’s just the moment we must say “We trust a Higher Power!”
Because we’ve faced our bears and yes we’ve also faced our lions
The giants just don’t seem so big there’s victory in our trying
Our God who is forever has determined we are able
What wondrous songs we’ll sing for Him around the wedding table
