Recently, Melvine has told me that she is hurting all over when we awaken in the mornings. I follow up by asking where do you hurt, and on a scale from 1-10, what is your pain level?
I plan her medications for each new day the night before. If she needs a pain pill, I will give her one. I have learned to get ahead of the pain to control it.
Melvine's physical therapist came today. Her name is Donna. She works for St. Mary's Home Health Care System. She is an excellent teacher and puts Melvine through the exercises which includes walking in our home. She will come one more time, and that will be Friday. Melvine and Greg have an appointment to get hair cuts on Friday. So, we will have to work it all in, and I am sure we can.
On Wednesday afternoon, I drove to my cardiologist office to have an echocardiogram. That took about an hour or so to complete the test. I have had that at least once before. A Christian lady from India did the test. She was very good at what she does. They took a movie of how my heart is pumping blood.
Of course, my cardiologist, Dr. Clay Chappell, will have to review the test to give me the results. How long that will take was not told to me.
I hate to take the diuretic and potassium. I have to stay close to the bathroom. However, I am losing weight. I am weighing every morning. Thus far, I have lost some 8 pounds. That's a lot of fluid now out of my body. I have to get this weight off.
I got a couple of calls from people who brought me great encouragement. One was from a man from another country. The other person was from my former executive secretary when I was president of Southwestern College. Her name is Ann Phillips. She is married to Charles Phillips. She and Melvine are so much alike. She gave me some sound advice about taking care of myself. When Ann and Melvine talk to me, I listen to what they tell me because they both love me and have my best interests at heart.
In addition, My pastor, Terry Kesling, called to let me know that he and his wife Pam are thinking of us and praying daily for us.
It doesn't take a lot of words to bring me encouragement. One's ministry of presence, or a brief telephone call is all I need to cheer me up.
It's a fact, Hugh Morgan will have to take care of himself. If he doesn't no one else will. It is the same with daily devotions. We have to take the time to do them and to commune with God.
On Thursday, I plan to spend some time with Melvine reading and praying and asking God for His Will to be done in our lives.
On August 13, Melvine and I will celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary.
On Friday, I will be going once again to see my chiropractor. I need the adjustments, stretching of my neck and the massage of my neck and shoulder.
Melvine has gone to bed. Greg just went to his room to read and then go to sleep.
I want to thank God for a good rain this afternoon. Greg did not have to water our garden and flowers.
God provides all we need.
I want to honor and glorify God as long as I live.
Have a great day on Thursday.
Hugh
