What a marvelous concert the Emmanuel College Singers gave on a Saturday afternoon and early evening on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at Christian Life Worship Center in Athens.
The singers and musicians were led by Trés Ward that thrilled a significant Saturday afternoon audience at Christian Life Worship Center in Athens, Georgia.
Songs like "The Old Rugged Cross," "The Blood Still Works," "Christ, the Solid Rock,"Great is Thy Faithfulness," "Your Spirit Lives within me," and many more brightened and blessed the people who attended the concert.
We are expecting a great congregation on Sunday morning and evening, February 10.
A number of alumni of Emmanuel College were in attendance to support their Alma Mater.
We were pleased to see Pastor Matt and Rachel Adams in the audience. Their two daughters, Lydia and Hannah, sing in the Emmanuel Singers. Matt is the assistant superintendent of Franklin County Schools, and Rachel is a math teacher in one of the schools. It was nice to see them again and hug their necks. We remember with fondness their ministry to us for a little over a year during a interim period when we were looking for a permanent pastor. Then, God sent us Pastor Terry and Pam Kesling.
Melvine, Greg, and I were glad we could be present to join with many members of our congregation and guests for this first of the series of Revival Services that will continue on Sunday, February 10, 2019.
[Editor's Note: In talking with Trés Ward prior to the beginning of the concert, I learned that his father, Army Chaplain James Paul Ward, Jr. was promoted to the rank of Major on Friday night at Joint Base Elemendorf/Richardson. We are very proud of the service and ministry of Chaplain (Major) James Paul Ward. He is a credit to the IPHC, the Cornerstone Conference, to his family and himself. I had the privilege to recruit and endorse him. It is my understanding that Chaplain (Colonel) Jerry L. Jones, Army Retired and Director/Endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC and his wife, Cynthia were present for this significant event in the life and career of Chaplain Ward.
As I was finishing this article I discovered I had an email from Chaplain Jerry Jones. In addition to being with Chaplain Ward and his wife, they were privileged to be with and speak with Jennifer Marley a well. She was present for the ceremony. (Shane is still in Korea. Shane Marley is an Air Force chaplain. I was blessed to have the privilege to recruit and endorse Shane Marley for the Air Force. I believe Shane is a Major.]
