Well Done Dr. Dan! Well Done! In the natural I’m saddened at the death of my dear brother, friend, mentor & co-laborer. I first met Dr. Dan as I lovingly called him, when I was a senior in Southwestern HS & Bible College (now Southwestern Christian University - SCU). As a freshman in College, I sang in the College Quartet. That year singing in the Annual Alumni Meeting at the O’Mealy’s Cafeteria on North May in OKC, I got to know him a little better, due to him being the President of The Alumni Association. The following year, Dr. Dan invited us to sing st his great church, Evangelistic Temple aka The Temple. What a exponential inspiring leader he was becoming to me! Later I was co-equally humbled & honored to serve on SCU’s Board of Regents with him for over 17 years. He was divinely involved in my becoming the first non-Bishop to become the Chairman of the Board of Regents. Later as I served as Director of Stewardship for our IPHC, Dr. Dan served on several General Boards that were in my portfolio. He always served & led with pure humility, pristine integrity, & anointed wisdom. Often I tell this story; serving as the Director of Stewardship, I was so honored to conduct a Wills Seminar for him at The Temple eleven (11) consecutive years! Each one building on the other. The first year, on Sunday morning I was introduced to his congregation & sang a solo & promoted the seminar for that night. We had excellent response with over 15 appointments that week. That first year I met Paul & Carolyn Craft. Carolyn was ET’s Organist & Paul led the congregational singing. Sister Marie Beller was their gifted pianist! (For many years Paul sang the National Anthem for the University of Tulsa’s sporting events). For the next ten (10) years, Dr Dan would announce that the following week David Oxley would be coming to conduct a Wills Seminar. The following Monday, Judy, ET’s /Dr. Dan’s Executive Assistant & Office Manager, would start receiving appointments. So when I arrived on the following Sunday, I’d sing a duet w/ Paul Craft - greet the folk & conduct the seminar that evening. The amazing & beautiful thing is; my week would already be filled w/ 25-30 appointments! Wall to wall! 9am to 9pm Mon - Friday! Wowzer! Before I ever arrived my schedule was to the full! Only at Dr Dan’s!!! For my appointments, some years I’d use the Conference room. Sometimes Marie’s office. Sometimes Dr. Dan’s office. I’ve never seen a church use their facilities any more than Dr. Dan & The Temple. They had multiple events happening every day of the week. I told him one time; if The Temple was a for profit company, he’d have people waiting in line to purchase their stock! During those 11 years, the Holy Spirit forged a precious eternal bond between us! Yes! In the natural I am saddened. But in the spiritual I’m overcome w/ such joy & glee knowing that Dr. Dan is now living out what he’s been Faithing out! Well done Dr. Dan! Well done!
