Samuel Paul Carpenter, Jr.
June 7, 1954 ~ November 28, 2022 (age 68)
Reverend Samuel Carpenter Jr., 68 of Gold Hill passed away at Atrium Health in Concord on November 28, 2022. Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 1st at 2:00 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The Carpenter family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 prior to the service. Reverend Marvin Goodnight and Reverend David Frankenfield will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis following the service.
Sam was born in Cabarrus County to the late Samuel Paul Carpenter Sr. and Nellie Estelle Hartsell Carpenter. He was a 1972 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School where he was involved in the Beta Club and was first chair trumpet in the band. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from East Coast Bible College in Charlotte. Sam served as a pastor for 43 years at 2 churches in Georgia and 3 churches in North Carolina. He loved to sing and minister to people.
Sam is survived by his wife of 43 years Harriet Barringer Carpenter, one son Shaun Paul Carpenter (wife
Kimberly Parker Carpenter). He was also survived by two sisters, Barbara Gail Carpenter Ritenour and
Wanda Kay Carpenter Jacobs (husband Glenn Jay Jacobs). He was preceded in death by his parents, and
brother in law Elmer Theodore Ritenour.
