The Edge of Time
Author: Ronald Gadberry
Some argue forcefully we share some billion years
Evolving slowly over time and now the end is near
Grasping fleeting moments holding out for just one more
Perching on the edge of time while squeezing through the door
Time is more than fleeting, juxtaposed to life and death
And mankind holds the secret having breathed in God’s own breath
Seeking life eternal knowing time belongs to man
He rushes frantically through life while reaching for His hand
The ages are for God alone, and time is His to share
The seconds, minutes, hours, days are also in His care
A lifetime stretched across the years are just begun then gone
A fraction in the scope of time, more fleeting than a song
To balance is precarious the edge is razor thin
The reaper has begun his march his purpose fierce and grim
But light from time immortal shining bright across the way
Is guiding all who follow on to that eternal day
Time at best is fleeting but eternity endures
And as the east is from the west, forever is assured
And as the final curtain falls on man’s short time on earth
Time will cease but life increase in heaven’s bright new birth
