Interview ‘Trump Aftershock’ Author Stephen E. Strang on State of Emergency, Borders and Immigration, and Trump’s Evangelical Base
In the ongoing news about President Donald Trump declaring a national emergency concerning funding for border security, 16 states have filed a lawsuit in the Ninth Circuit.
Best-selling author Stephen E. Strang points out that Trump, in fact, predicted the lawsuit and will stand strong on his commitment to protect the nation’s borders.
Strang, whose newest book is Trump Aftershock, says Evangelicals in particular still support Donald Trump because he has done what he said he would regarding border security, defending the sacredness of human life, standing up for religious freedom and more.
And, true to the name of Strang’s book, the nation is still feeling the “aftershocks” of Trump’s election, with many still in denial and attempting to do whatever they can to derail his agenda.
“This book is my attempt to document what has been happening since Trump’s victory in a way that will help readers better understand the political, emotional and spiritual dimensions of the election that brought us such a complex, unpredictable and conspicuously gifted leader,” Strang writes. “Looking back at the headlines from the 1980s and 1990s, it’s ironic to see how Trump was loved by the media when he was a flamboyant playboy businessman. But when he ran for president as a Republican, the East Coast liberals and their friends in the media made such a hard turn to the left that a new phrase had to be created to describe it: ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome.’
“But once Trump was installed in the White House, he didn’t change,” Strang continues. “Instead, he set out to prove he had real and workable solutions. He got to work fast and accomplished more than anyone could have imagined. He surprised many with his depth of understanding and strength of will. But the media have been unwilling to give him credit for his accomplishments. So he uses his rallies and Twitter account to go around the media, and it’s working. The media know that his firmest base of support is the Evangelical community, and they would love nothing better than to put a wedge between the president and his base—anything to undermine him and his presidency.
“I’m convinced God is using Donald Trump in a remarkable and unprecedented way, not unlike the way he used Winston Churchill and even American general George Patton when it looked as if the Nazis would control all of Europe and the world was hanging in the balance,” Strang says. “As I researched and wrote this book, I had the feeling on many occasions that I was recording the history of one of the most extraordinary times in the life of our nation.”
Trump Aftershock, published by Charisma House, explores the “president’s seismic impact on culture and faith in America” and uncovers unreported facts while objectively helping readers understand what the nation’s most unlikely and unconventional president has accomplished.
