I have heard it said, "Old friends are like gold. New friends are like silver." However, God has given me friends that are like both gold and silver.
That can be said of my dear friends, Wayne and June Butler. On Saturday, Wayne came my home to bring me some food for the winter blast of rain and snow. June had given Wayne an order of cold cuts and a chef's salad plus some cough drops. In addition, he brought me two different kinds of flash lights with batteries, as well as covers for water faucets on the east and west side of the house. Earlier Wayne had shut off the inside valve so no water would be running to the faucet on the east side.
We are praying that my electric power will not go out. I do not have a generator to kick in electrical power in the event the power goes out.
I may not have a caregiver on Sunday in case of bad weather. I want my caregiver to be safe and stay at her home on Sunday and not venture out.
June reminded me of the parade on Saturday in Athens at the University of Georgia to honor our 2021 National Collegiate Football Team, and victory celebration in Samford Stadium and Dooley Field. There must have been some 100,000 or more fans that braved the cold weather to cheer our football team, coaches and staff. I was blessed to see it in the comfort of my home that God gave to Melvine and me. It was a beautiful sight and I was impressed by the coverage of an Atlanta Television Station and Network.
