Rewards for the Faithful Christian
Joe Sturz
Dear Friend,
Salvation was paid for by Christ on the cross (I Cor. 15:3; Galatians
3:13-14) and is given to us who believe as a free gift that cannot be
earned or deserved by our good works (Ephesians 2:8-9,13). Praising the
Lord for His mercy and generosity (Psalm 106:1-5) in giving us so great
rewards for whatever little we do in our Christian service (Matthew
5:11-12). These rewards are for those Christians that:
--are humble faithful stewards of even a few things (Matthew 10:42;
25:23),
--do good to all and are charitable to others even their enemies (Luke
6:35; Galatians 6:8-10),
--remain faithful when they suffer great loss and afflictions (Romans
8:18; II Cor. 4:17; Philippians 3:8-15),
--are overcomers that endure persecution to the end including even
martyrdom with a good attitude (Matthew 5:11-12; Acts 7:59-60; Hebrews
11:26; Rev. 20:4; 21:6-7).
So let us not work for God's rewards but in thanksgiving for His
undeserved generosity to us His unprofitable servants (Luke 6:35;
17:5-10).
To become a Christian you must believe the Gospel for yourself (Romans
10:9-11) by truly repenting of your sins and believe that Christ did
this work for you on the cross personally to save you from your sins and
enable you to go to heaven (Mark 1:15).
If you are ready to do this then pray as follows: "God the Father in
Heaven, please enable me to confess to You and repent of my sins (I John
1:9), (Name as many sins as you can think of using Exodus 20:3-17 as a
guide, then say you are truly sorry for breaking His laws) and thank You
for sending Your son to die on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins
and gaining Your forgiveness(I Corinthians 15:3-4). Thank You for
raising Him from the dead to show this payment was acceptable to You to
bring us together (Romans 5:8-10,18; Ephesians 2:13-19)
Thank You for changing my heart and giving me the gift of repentance and
salvation (Ephesians 2:1-10) I am living for You from now on
(Galatians 2:20)Thank You that You promised never to leave me (Hebrews
13:5)."
"I pray this in and through the name of Jesus Christ (John 16:23-24)"
"Amen."
Now follow Christ praising Him for your salvation and in reading the
Bible and obeying Christ's direction.
