April 28th - Chaplain (Major General) Gaylord T. Gunhus will be laid to rest at a graveside (only) ceremony. An informal reception will be held following the service at the Memorial Chapel on Joint-Base Myer-Henderson Hall from Arlington National Cemetery.
It was my distinct honor and privilege to get to know Gaylord Gunhus personally and I enjoyed his friendship and fellowship during the years I served as the Director/Endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC.
He was an evangelical Lutheran minister. He loved Jesus and was never ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Melvine got to know him and we enjoyed a special time with him and other chaplains and wives at a reception at Hilton Head, SC, for the annual Chief of Army Chaplains Conference for senior Army Chaplain officers and senior non-commissioned officers. He made room for Melvine and me.
