Prayer Request for Gary and Carolyn Burd
Author: Hugh H. Morgan, Editor
On Friday, July 23, I noticed that Gary Burd had been injured when I watched the prayer meeting via livestreaming. He mentioned in his address on the platform at the Prayer at the Heart of America in Lebanon, KS, that Carolyn, his wife had been injured.
So, I wrote Gary via email and this is what he wrote in his response:
"Carolyn and I both went down on our motorcycle." Carolyn was seated behind Gary on his motorcycle. The wreck happened on June 27. They were both hospitalized for four days, but at different hospitals. "We NEVER questioned God or got down emotionally over the wreck. Our foundation does not allow me to question a God so much greater and wiser than we are. This was just one of the bad things in life that happens, we know the Lord will turn it to good. We will be back on the bike in September."
Carolyn was not able to make the trip to Lebanon, KS. Her ribs are still hurting. While she was lying under her motorcycle, Gary reports that "Carolyn was quietly praying in her prayer language." A friend from Christian Heritage Pentecostal Holiness Church in Amarillo, TX, was kind enough to drive Gary in his (Gary's) truck to Lebanon, KS.
Carolyn is recovering from 4 ribs broken front and back / 2 ribs broken once and a broken collar bone.
Gary has 2 vertebrae broken / 2 ribs - they had to put two steel plates to hold my left eye up / broken nose - cuts inside my nose, mouth and left hand.
"It is all healing well." Gary wrote, "Not sure you could tell but I got weak and really shook while reading that prayer."
"My face is pretty swollen today but I am thrilled I was able to participate."
Gary granted me permission to publish this prayer request.
I have known Gary and Carolyn for about 20 years. I traveled to see them in Amarillo, TX, on two occasions at the request of Dr. Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. when he was the chairman of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC, and I was the director/endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. It was finally decided by Dr. Carpenter that Gary Burd's ministry, Mission M25, should stand on its own and not come under Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. That was a wise decision. We praise God for the lives and ministry of this outstanding Christian couple who have given their all in ministry in the Kingdom of God and serving others.
Thank you for joining me, and many others, for praying for the healing of Gary and Carolyn Burd.
