“THE SOLID ROCK”
A hymn of grace written by Edward Mote
Lyrics:
My (Our) hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I (We) dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ Name.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I (We) rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My (Our) anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me (us) in the whelming flood;
When all around my (our) soul gives way,
He then is all my (our) hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I (we) then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I (we) stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
Changing our way of thinking has helped us to focus on Jesus Christ our Lord, Savior, Healer, and soon coming King.
Someone asked me if I had seen a change in Melvine on Monday. I answered without any hesitation. We are seeing observable, objective changes. The Hospice Nurse recognized the change when she visited with Melvine on Monday afternoon to take her blood pressure, heart rate, and listen to her heart and lungs.
I take her vital signs twice a day. Melvine's blood pressure, blood sugar, and heart rate are all good. There are times I do not have to give her any insulin. I have a chart to go by to let me know when and how much insulin I need or not give Melvine.
Melvine's speech and emotional status are very good.
The very fact that Melvine was able to go to church on Sunday and go out to eat was a verifiable indicator that she is making progress.
We are encouraged daily by cards, letters, and emails. Most of all, the prayers of all of you for us.
Thursday, a week ago, Bishop Tim Lamb and his wife, Carissa, paid us a visit. I think I failed to mention that visit. We couldn't ask for a better conference superintendent and his wife. They are so faithful in calling, sending cards (the ministry of Carissa), and visiting us. Carissa has many talents. She gave us some delicious canned jellies she made. Greg has made toast and buttered it with these jellies of pear and strawberry It is so good it will make your tongue slap your tonsils. Bishop Lamb always has a good word for us and prays with us. It is wonderful to be the recipient of pastoral care.
I have known Bishop Tim Lamb since he and I were pastors in the Georgia Conference, now called LifePoint Ministries.
On Monday, I got a call from Chaplain (Colonel) Jerry L. Jones, Director/Endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. It is nice to be remembered by my successor. He and his wife, Cindy, live near Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
Melvine has gone to bed. Greg has retired to his bedroom.
I stay up to do Hugh's News. A lot of Hugh's News is done earlier in the day as I read extensively, select which articles God would have me publish. Some of the articles I read, I decide not to publish, although they are interesting to me.
Thank you for allowing us to come into your home or office on a daily basis through Hugh's News.
Thank you for your prayers and moral support.

Have a blessed Tuesday.
