[It has been my privilege to know Gordon McDonald and share on the IPHC World Missions Board. His presence at any of those meetings was a blessing. He was an excellent leader. He perception of ministry and understanding of people was impeccable. His wealth of knowledge and wisdom was an added dimension to all of those meetings.
When our son, Greg, was a missionary to Budapest, Hungary, he took time to take him and two other missionaries out to dine when he was in the country. His encouragement and stimulating conversations greatly bolstered Greg's confidence and calling to be a missionary.
I remember he was at the Centennial Celebration of Azusa Street. It was good to see Glenda, his wife, there. Melvine was with me. What a glorious time it was for all of us who attended this historic meeting. Melvine and I met the editor of the Jerusalem Post newspaper, the most conservative newspaper in the world, on the elevator as we were going down to breakfast on Saturday morning. I remember meeting Barbara Tengan from Hawaii at the conference at one of the sessions led by Dr. Vinson Synan.
When I was the director/endorser of Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. he gave to help me purchase Psalm 91 Prayer Bandannas for the troops. One of his sons was a commissioned officer in the Army's Special Forces, and he wanted to show his love for the military of the United States and at the same time honor his son. Gordon McDonald was genuine and generous.]
