Mrs. Moore was born in Spray, NC on May 14, 1926, a daughter of William Clyde Fulcher and Mary Ella Bell Fulcher, both deceased. She formerly worked as a secretary for the Eden News. She was a member of the Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church in Eden, NC. In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her husband Forrest Durwood Moore, Sr. She is survived by her children, Dorris Moore, Betty Fraser, both of Harrells, NC, Barry Moore of Stoneville and Forrest Moore, Jr. of Eden.
[Editor's comment: It was my privilege to know Gwen Moore and her husband Durwood Moore and their children. Gwen was a faithful and loyal member of the Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church. This church is the church that Melvine grew up in and was a member. I have known Gwen since 1957 when I started courting Melvine. Gwen sang in the great choir of the church, and was a trained singer and soloist. She thrilled people as she sang in church and lifted the spirits of all present.
Gwen and her husband Durwood were a fun couple and the Draper P. H. Church had a lot of couples that met every Sunday night after church and at other times for fellowship and fun.
Melvine and I would have liked to be present for Gwen's funeral. We send our love, prayers, and condolences to the family.
Pastor Ben Rose, a friend of mine, will conduct a memorial service in keeping with the wishes of Gwen. He is an excellent pastor, anointed Biblical preacher, and a tremendous leader in worship. Melvine, my wife, is presently hospitalized in St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, Georgia.
